You have an army (of buyers), we have a video game. Marvel has announced a new Iron Man game is in early development from Motive Studio.

Motive Studio is a Montreal-based Electronic Arts branch. The game’s executive producer is Olivier Proulx, who helped produce the 2021 Guardians of the Galaxy game. He touts an original story that taps into the rich lore of the character, and is very excited about the opportunity and being able to call it his own. Marvel also promises the game channels the complexity, charisma, and immense creativity of Tony Stark, the man of course behind and within the suit. Ian Frazier, Maëlenn Lumineau, and JF Poirier are also part of the studio’s crew working on the game. It is the beginning of a new partnership between Marvel and Electronic Arts, with more games to be announced down the line.

Being only as far as pre-production, it’s clear there was nothing to show during the Games Showcase at D23 just a week and a half ago, but even then some titles did got a namedrop. The readiness of announcements is definitely a curiosity. News items announced within days after the event like the rollout of the third and final season of The Owl House to the forthcoming digital release of the One Saturday Morning music album and comic omnibus probably could’ve slipped in, but that’s just how it is. Timing and press releases are funny like that.
