When LEGO says that it's for all ages and audiences, they mean it. With enough time and imagination, you can build just about anything your mind puts forth! Given that you have the proper pieces, that is. I mean, who hasn't seen The LEGO Movie by this point?

While LEGO was always really good at making a large variety of sets involving buildings, vehicles, statuettes, flowers, and even Super Mario-style platforming, they've also been putting out a series of 3D wall art sets. Whether they mimic famous artists like Andy Warhol or display images of Darth Vader or Batman, LEGO always finds a way to make them a fascinating puzzle to behold after the pieces are put together.

Recently, LEGO decided to dip their toes back into the Spider-Man audience's pool, as their most recent production images reveal their plans to put out a 2099-piece set that replicates an infamous pose from a panel in The Amazing Spider-Man comic series. Knowing LEGO, they went against the usual plain, vanilla style of flat work and opted for a different idea. With a poseable head and flexible fingers that grip the edge of the frame, it makes it look as if Spiderman is crawling out to you!

Designer Nico Vás had this to say about the unconventional method:

"I still don’t understand how the head really works. The whole thing is built at a 45-degree angle, which is super strange. In earlier versions, it was built in a more grid-like, symmetrical way. It was much easier to understand, but didn’t quite have the right expression. And then somehow we came across this idea of rotating it sideways. And then that needed planning in 2D illustration software, it was like a grid snap thing to figure out: what do the shapes do when everything is rotated? And then there’s a lot of wedge plates that tessellate together. I don’t really know how that works, it just sort of seems to work.”

LEGO plans to make the set available for purchase on August 1st, priced at around $200. It may be a bit steep for some, but at least it's cheaper than buying certain comics of The Amazing Spider-Man on eBay!
