Leaked ‘Ahsoka’ Set Photos Hint At Jedi Temple Ruins

Ahsoka Tano is a beloved Star Wars character and fans have been elated ever since Lucasfilm Ltd. announced that she was to get her own well-deserved and highly anticipated live-action series, Ahsoka. The character (played by Rosario Dawson), has already made her live-action debut in the Mando-Verse, which has been hugely popular among the masses. As the series is set to begin filming soon, recently leaked photos of the set from the Manhattan Beach Studios show what seem to be the ruins of a temple. These first images hint at where the plot of the television series could lead.

The pictures from the railway yard location set show the remains of a heavily battered ancient temple, reminiscent of ancient Roman ruins, as per the Bespin Bulletin. The photos reveal crumbly old relics of an ancient structure in front of a blue screen. Noticeably, there are what appear to be the legs of a giant statue, perhaps of a statue of one of the Masters at the ruins of the Jedi Temple.

In my life, when you find people who need your help, you help them, no matter what.
— Ahsoka Tano

Those of us who have watched our favorite Togruta grow from Anakin Skywalker’s talented Jedi Padawan, Snips, into a marvelous Force-wielding knight in her own right, have often lamented her absence from the live-action movies. That is why when Rosario Dawson brought Ahsoka to the screen in The Mandalorian, fans could not stop theorizing what was in store for her character. After all, Ahsoka has played a central role in the animated series, Star Wars: The Clone Wars, and also a pivotal role in aiding the Rebellion in Star Wars Rebels. Both her character and the storyline surrounding her character are very rich and replete with enormous possibilities.

We saw Ahsoka and Sabine leaving together to find Ezra Bridger in the final scenes of Star Wars Rebels. While a live-action Sabine was missing from the Mando-Verse, Rosario Dawson’s Ahsoka was found enquiring about the whereabouts of Grand Admiral Thrawn from his apprentice, the Magistrate Morgan Elsbeth (The Mandalorian: The Jedi). Since Ezra and Thrawn were hurled together into hyperspace with the purrgils, it is possible that in finding Thrawn, Ahsoka is still on her quest for Ezra. More recently, Ahsoka was seen discussing the youngling, Grogu, with Luke Skywalker, perhaps at Yavin 4, where he is supposedly building his new Jedi academy (The Book of Boba Fett: From the Desert Comes a Stranger). We do not know if her meeting with Luke is also related to her mission of finding Ezra or if she is on a different pursuit altogether.

As a former Jedi, Ahsoka realizes the importance of Jedi Temples and has looked to them as a source of guidance multiple times in the past, such as when she directed Din Djarin to take Grogu to the remains of the Jedi Temple at Tython to find a direction for Grogu (The Mandalorian: The Jedi) or when she, Ezra, and Kanan visited the Jedi Temple at Lothal to seek Grand Master Yoda’s help (Star Wars Rebels: Shroud of Darkness). A key episode of Rebels, Twilight of the Apprentice, showed a much-anticipated reunion of Ahsoka with Anakin Skywalker, now Darth Vader, and brought the Padawan and Master face-to-face in an emotional duel of the lightsabers at the Sith Temple at Malachor. Ahsoka was later helped out of the falling Sith temple by Ezra, who mystically reached out to her through one of the portals in the Lothal Jedi Temple (Star Wars Rebels: A World Between Worlds). Thus, it is likely that Ahsoka goes back to one of these temples to look for Ezra.

However, given the photos that have been released, the structure of the temple does not resemble that of the Lothal Jedi temple or the Malachor Sith temple and the remains seem more likely to be from the Jedi Temple at Coruscant, which has also been important to Ahsoka's journey. After all, it was the bombing of the Jedi Temple hangar that changed everything for Ahsoka and disillusioned her enough to leave the Jedi Order. We will never know if Anakin would have turned to the dark side had Ahsoka remained by his side. Hopefully, we would find more answers as Hayden Christensen is also set to appear in the series as Anakin/Vader. However, given that the series is supposedly set around five years after the events of the Return of the Jedi, it is likely that he will appear in flashbacks or lend support to Ahsoka as a Force ghost. Is it possible that Ahsoka is at the fallen Jedi Temple to help Luke resurrect the Jedi Order and train younglings like Grogu in the ways of the Force?

Ahsoka will be aired exclusively on Disney+ and is written by Dave Filoni. The limited series is to be directed by the Oscar-winning co-director of Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, Peter Ramsey. It will star Rosario Dawson as Ahsoka Tano, Hayden Christensen as Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader, and Natasha Liu Bordizzo as Sabine Wren.
