Lawrence Kasdan Says He Would Return To 'Star Wars' For Another Movie, Like A 'Solo' Sequel
Lawrence Kasdan is a Lucasfilm insider. He has written scripts for four Star Wars films, including The Empire Strikes Back and Return of The Jedi. Recently he gave an interview with Inverse, spilling titbits regarding the future of Solo. Alden Ehrenreich signed a three-film deal, so it has always been assumed he would return to the role, but the powers that be have remained silent.
That is until now. Filmmaker/screenwriter Lawrence Kasdan shot down the prospect of a Kenobi-style series, saying, “no there’s not any talk of that.” However, Lawrence did drop a bombshell. He has sat down with his son and fellow writer Jonathan Kasdan, as well as director Ron Howard and had discussions about Solo: A Star Wars Story, and that he would be “interested in doing another movie, not a TV series.”

So in the future, we could see our favorite scoundrel back on the big screen. But don’t expect Kasdan the Elder to be involved in an eight-parter on Disney+ any time soon! Solo: A Star Wars Story is the black sheep of the franchise. It made less than half of the box office of Rogue One, the spin-off released two years earlier. But like the prequels, Solo has its supporters. Donald Glover’s performance as Lando Calrissian was popular with fans, as was Ray Park’s cliff-hanger cameo.
The movie ended with many questions that Disney has to answer at some point. What’s Qi’ra’s story? What does the scruffy-looking nerf herder get into between his encounter with Crimson Dawn and meeting with Greedo in A New Hope? There is still a glimmer of hope we will find out one day.
