'Korra's' Water-Bending Mythic To Be Added To 'Fortnite'
It’s a new day for Fortnite players everywhere. Though her introduction to the Avatar: The Last Airbender lore was met with some pushback, Korra’s presence added more tense and dark moments to a landmark show that was already unafraid of allowing its viewers serious and emotional moments. While Fortnite hasn’t added an Aang, Katara, or Toph skin, they have since added a Korra skin. Of course, this Korra skin can waterbend. On the DiscussingFilm’s official X page, comments range from hopefuls wanting the skins of the Gaang, including Zuko, and the past Avatars to Fortnite “making a splash” with this latest decision.
When Korra graced audiences with her declaration, “I’m the Avatar! You better deal with it!” and already proficient in bending three out of the four elements, Fortnite’s choice of adding a Korra skin has the chance for the player to bend more than just water. According to Tanner Dedmon of Comicbook.com, “the [Korra] skin won't be live until a later date as part of a mid-season set of quests with the Korra skin and more earned as rewards.”
Despite a lack of a concrete release date for the skin, there is plenty of excitement about players being able to channel their inner bender. Fortnite’s fifth chapter is described as “broadly centered around Greek legends like Poseidon, Medusa, and more, but the "Myths & Mortals" theme leaves room for other atypical legends like Korra to be added to the game.” This might also equate to other characters being able to share Korra’s water-bending abilities, but it is too soon to know for certain. What is certain is the chance for players to know if they have what it takes to be a water bender or the Avatar.
