‘Kenobi’ Actor Teases ‘Wonderful Cameos’ Included In New Show
The Obi-Wan Kenobi series is fast approaching Disney's streaming service and fans could not be more excited to see Ewan McGregor's return as the titular character. Fans have been clamoring to see what Kenobi has been up to in the sands of Tatooine, and they will not have to wait much longer. With The Mandalorian and The Book of Boba bringing back so many fan-favorite characters from Luke Skywalker to Cad Bane, it leaves fans wondering who will make an appearance this time around. Within the Star Wars timeline, the series takes place ten years after the events of Revenge of the Sith, and a few years before the events of A New Hope, leaving plenty of room for fans to speculate which one of their favorite characters can make an appearance.
Fans are already excited to see the return of Hayden Christianson (Darth Vader/Anakin Skywalker) as well as Joel Edgerton (Uncle Owen). Outside of these two, we do not know which other familiar faces we can expect to see. At a recent red carpet event for the new Netflix series Anatomy of a Scandal, actor Rupert Friend, who will be taking on the role of the Grand Inquisitor in Obi-Wan Kenobi series, gave fans a taste of what he was excited for people to see:
“If it’s possible to be any more excited than folks already are, I would be. I think [the series] is one of the most thrilling additions to the Star Wars canon. I think Ewan McGregor is doing things with that role that is a dream for fans of the original films. You know, we can’t obviously have Alec Guinness back, but I just think Ewan was absolutely born to play that part. And wonderful cameos from people I obviously can’t tell you, but Easter eggs galore... Yeah, it’s a thrilling ride.”
These statements by the Grand Inquisitor actor are music to fans’ ears. It does beg the question, who are we going to see showing up in the limited series?

Two characters that come to mind right off the bat are Yoda and Qui-Gon Jinn. The last time we saw Yoda and Obi-Wan together after Revenge of the Sith, Yoda had given some Jedi homework that involved becoming one with the Force. In a deleted scene of Revenge of the Sith, we also saw Qui-Gon posthumously communicating with Yoda. However, it is unclear if Qui-Gon would show up as a Force ghost. From what we know from season 6 of The Clone Wars, Qui-Gon was unable to fully complete the training to become a Force ghost. Yoda, on the other hand, may very likely show up. We have already seen in the sequel trilogy that communication from person to person is very possible through the Force.
Outside of the Grand Inquisitor, it is unlikely that any characters from Rebels will make a return as it would not make much sense within the timeline. However, Ahsoka Tano could very likely make an appearance especially since her show is coming up next after Kenobi. It would be amazing to see Ahsoka and Obi-Wan reunite in live-action as the last time we saw them together was before the events of Order 66. Ahsoka had also made appearances in both The Mandalorian and The Book of Boba Fett, so her inclusion in Obi-Wan Kenobi would only ramp up the hype train for her solo live-action series.
Another person who is familiar with inquisitors in the Star Wars universe is Cal Kestis. After all, Kenobi takes place only a few years after the events of Jedi: Fallen Order. The show could bridge the gap between the first and second games. There is much to tell about what Cal and his band of Rebels are up to. His experience fighting inquisitors would make a great addition to the show's story. As Cal is familiar with Obi-Wan, it would not violate the currently established canon if their paths were to cross.
A long-shot addition to the show would be Count Dooku. With Obi-Wan sitting with all of his regrets, his thoughts may go to Count Dooku’s offer to join him when he was captured by Dooku in Attack of the Clones. It would make for a compelling storyline if Obi-Wan were to think back on what may have happened if he were to accept Dooku's offer.
Knowing that Darth Vader will be in the series is one of the most exciting aspects of Obi-Wan Kenobi. Along with Darth Vader comes the rest of the Empire, and with the Empire comes its leader, Emperor Palpatine. The Emperor’s appearance in the show is something that needs to happen. It will be exciting even to see him in a small capacity like giving Vader orders. Being able to witness Palpatine's brutality and his iron rule is something that no Star Wars fan can say no to.
There are so many possibilities on who among the infinite number of characters in the Star Wars timeline could appear in Obi-Wan Kenobi. We may see characters like Commander Cody or Captain Rex show up in flashbacks. Seeing the Jedi as the commanders of the Grand Army of the Republic in live-action is also something we could see. It seems like this series has the potential to become one of the most fun shows within the Star Wars universe. Many secrets will be revealed come May 27, 2022. Who do you want to see make an appearance in Obi-Wan Kenobi?
