The director for the third installment of Marvel and Sony Pictures’ Venom has been announced, and the name may be familiar.  Kelly Marcel is stepping up to the directing plate; up until now, she has been involved in the series through the screenplays.

This won’t be the only hand Marcel has in the threequel, she will continue her role in screenplay drafting alongside Hardy.  Marcel has the base knowledge of the character and a direct hand in the story thus far, so the cohesion of her and Hardy’s teamwork is likely to be present.

Marcel is the third director in the Venom franchise.  The first movie was directed by Ruben Fleischer and the latest installment was by Andy Serkis.  Having worked on the story for so long and seeing success, Marcel getting the director’s hat makes sense.  Other than her work for Venom, Marcel has had a hand in the story for Cruella (2021), Saving Mr. Banks (2013), and Fifty Shades of Gray (2015).

Not much is known about the plot of Venom 3, Hardy and Marcel have been keeping the details under wraps. The script and storyline are being worked on, but a title and release date have yet to be announced.
