John Williams Makes History As The Oldest Person To Receive An Oscar Nomination

Even with a basic knowledge of award shows, hearing about a favorite actor or director being honored with a nomination is exciting news. From best feature to soundtrack and everything in between, just having the title of a nomination can propel those involved further into the limelight. Sometimes, the person or persons nominated have already established themselves before receiving a nomination. For example, decorated and celebrated composer John Williams made Academy Awards history yet again when he received a nomination for composing the score for Steven Spielberg's The Fabelmans.
With 53 Oscar nominations under his belt, this latest nomination has earned him another title: the most-nominated person currently living, second only to the late Walt Disney, who received 59 nods during his lifetime. During his career, Williams has already been awarded the coveted Oscar for previous works, including Fiddler on the Roof, Jaws, the Star Wars saga, E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial, and Schindler's List. Luckily for fans, John Williams doesn't appear to be slowing down.

Williams has told longtime friend and comrade Steven Spielberg, "I'll stick around for awhile…. I can't retire from music. A day without music is a mistake." Considering the two have completed 17 projects together, it can be said this latest Oscar nomination for Williams adds more notoriety and prestige for Spielberg. With both expressing great love for their craft as well as one another's, an Oscar win for Williams can also be a win for Spielberg. Viewers can watch the 95th Academy Awards on March 12 at 8 p.m. Eastern Standard Time or 5 p.m. Pacific Time on ABC.
