Joel McHale Says The 'Community' Movie Will Begin Filming Soon
It is the moment fans of the hit television series Community have been waiting for. The internet has been crying out “six seasons and a movie” in the hopes that it may happen. Finally, in September of last year, Peacock and Sony TV announced that a film was in the works. John McHale recently announced on Jimmy Kimmel that filming of the Community Movie is due to start this June.
Gillian Jacobs, Alison Brie, Danny Pudi, Jim Rash, and Ken Jeong have reportedly all signed up for the project. Word is still out on Donald Glover and Yvette Nicole Brown so let’s hope that the whole gang can reunite. Chevy Chase will not be returning due to the problematic behavior on set which culminated in racist remarks directed at Glover.
There are no details about the plot yet, but Community loves everything meta so fans can expect more self-deprecating humor. Many several characters (Rachel, Troy, Professor Buzz Hickey, and Shirley deserved better) have suffered as a result of the sudden cancellation of the show and they deserve a new lease of life. There is also no word as to whether Greendale Community College survived the closure threats into the present day.
If you live anywhere near Los Angeles City College it might be worth checking for film crews over the summer as it was the location of the exteriors in the series.
All seasons of Community are available to stream on Netflix
