Jedi Master Kelleran Beq Returns In New Comic Series
March 5 will see the release of Star Wars: Jedi Knights an, ongoing new comic series by Marvel, written by Marc Guggenheim and illustrated by Madibek Musabekov and Luis Guerrero.
The stories are set shortly before the events of The Phantom Menace when the Jedi are still more or less at their height of power. Each issue will focus on a pair of Jedi on a different mission. While each story will be self-contained, an overarching threat will bind the various stories together.
The first issue will be an exception from this “rule of two” as it will feature multiple Jedi like Yoda, Shaak Ti, Qui-Gon Jinn, Obi-Wan Kenobi, or Dooku.
In an interview with Star Wars Explained Guggenheim said that he chose the different pairings to best fit the story. One will feature an adventure of Yaddle and Dooku, which is ironic, as the latter would later kill the former in an episode of Tales of the Jedi.
He also confirmed that one of the later issues will feature Kelleran Beq and that there is already a tease for him in the very first issue.

The Jedi Master was created for Star Wars: Jedi Temple Challenge, a ten-episode children’s game show which premiered on June 10 2020 on the Star Wars Kids website and YouTube. Beq was the Jedi Master who acted as a mentor of the young contestants, who had to complete an obstacle course that tested the younglings’ core Jedi principles.
Jedi Temple Challenges also marked Ahmed Best's return to the Star Wars franchise. The actor famously played Jar Jar Binks in each of the Prequel Trilogy films (and has voiced this character in several episodes of The Clone Wars), but he distanced himself from Star Wars for many years after the massive backlash against the clumsy Gungan.
Best reprised the role of Kelleran Beq in the season three episode “The Foundling” of The Mandalorian, where he rescued young Grogu during the siege of the Jedi Temple.
In the interview with Star Wars Explained Marc Guggenheim confirmed that this rescue will come into play in the Jedi Knights issue that features Beq, although it remains to be seen in which form, as Order 66 took place many years after the events of the new comic series.
