At a time when it seems like everybody in the entertainment industry seems to be dying, we have another big death. J. Michael Cline, the creator of Fandango, has passed on. For those unaware, Fandango is a site that sells movie tickets, that was created in 2000 and became part of Comcast in 2007. Cline remained with the company through the purchase, and until 2011. “A Fandango is fast and fun. Fandango is the perfect match to a service designed to make going to the movies easier and more enjoyable than ever before,” Cline said when the service was launched. It’s “an instantly recognizable and distinctive name that sets us apart in our industry,” he added.

Cline apparently jumped from a 20th-floor window in the Kimberly Hotel in Manhattan. He was 64 years old. “Upon arrival, officers found an unconscious and unresponsive male with injuries indicative of a fall from an elevated position. The investigation remains ongoing.” the NYPD stated. Fandango did not respond to any requests to comment on the death of its founder. He is survived by his wife Pamela and their children.
