Sideshow Collectibles Unveils Premium Format Kylo Ren & Rey Figures

In a turning point moment in the sequel trilogy, Rey faces Kylo Ren for the last time on the wreckage of the Death Star on the moon of Kef Bir near Endor. Lightsabers clashed with fury and emotion in the torrent of rain and wind. In the midst of battle, Kylo feels the call from his mother, Leia Organa, to return to the light as she passes into it. As Kylo fades and Ben re-emerges, Rey notices his hesitation and spears him through. Ben stumbles, but Rey realizes the transformation. Rey places her hand over Ben’s gaping wound healing it. Their next reunion will be as equals.

And now, Sideshow Collectibles, known for their ultra-high quality Premium Format collection figures, has just revealed a new Kylo Ren and Rey figures as featured in their duel on Kef Bir in The Rise of Skywalker. From Sideshow’s Star Wars Premium Format collection, the deluxe Kylo Ren and Rey are sold separately and are created using mixed media. The figures boast life-like expertly hand-painted details, highly accurate sculpts, and tailored fabric. The likeness is uncanny as each figure is positioned on the twisted metal of the former Death Star as the ocean crashes around them.

The Sideshow Collectible website states that the Kylo Ren figure stands 21.85” tall, 18” wide, and 15.35” deep. A wire threads through Kylo’s cape allowing it to be positioned in any way desired to reflect the stormy setting. Additionally, Kylo’s outfit is quilted with realistic folds allowing the figure added life-like qualities. There also is the option of either having Kylo wear his iconic helmet or not. For accuracy’s sake, the unhelmeted version is the one to go with, but there is nothing wrong with a bit of creative license. The helmet also features the red lines where the mask was previously destroyed during one of Kylo’s famous temper tantrums.

The Rey figure stands approximately 20.5” tall, 11.5” wide, and 10.5” deep. Both Kylo Ren and Rey are made of poly stone. Like the Kylo figure, Rey also has a wire threaded through her clothing for added depth. Rey’s armbands, boots, wrapping are a weathered fabric, and her belt is faux leather. Rey also brandishes a blaster pistol on her right hip. Kylo and Rey’s facial sculpt reveal a fiery determination, while Rey wears her famous triple bun hairstyle. Either piece can be enjoyed on its own, but they deserve to be together for the full effect. They are a dyad, after all.

As for the characters themselves, there has not been a ton of new material released of late. Each character is part of the Star Wars Galactic Starcruiser hotel and Galaxy’s Edge at Walt Disney World in Orlando, FL, and Galaxy’s Edge at Disneyland in Anaheim, CA. They have each appeared in the Star Wars Adventures comics from IDW. With IDW losing the Star Wars license to Dark Horse Comics, hopefully Dark Horse will pick up that mantle and continue their story. There have been quiet rumblings of Daisy Ridley returning to play Rey in the future, but it is all hearsay at this point. One can only hope. Ben’s fate was sealed on Exegol in Episode IX, but there is still much to tell about his life BS (Before Snoke).

Sideshow’s Star Wars line is impressive. They have also created high-quality figures for DC, Marvel, Star Trek, Lord of the Rings, Game of Thrones, Harry Potter, Masters of the Universe, Pokemon, Street Fighter, and Dragon Ball Z. Sideshow also has an incredible horror influenced line that includes Leatherface, Jason, The Creature from the Black Lagoon, Dracula, and movies like HellraiserGhostbusters, The Nun, Halloween, and Annabelle.
