How Bo-Katan Could Be Made Into A Villain For 'Mandalorian' Season 3
It was only a little over a year ago, Chapter 16: The Rescue of The Mandalorian Season 2 debuted on Disney+, and boy, what a finale it was. Din Djarin had completed his task of rescuing Grogu from Moff Gideon and allowing the youngling to go with Luke Skywalker. You'd think it was a happy ending. The bad guy defeated, the heroes save the day, but it was also a sad farewell. Grogu was now with his people, the Jedi.
There was a small hiccup, however. Din Djarin was now in possession of the Darksaber. Accidently of course, he didn't realize what it was, the story and power behind the ancient weapon, you could say he was oblivious to what the Darksaber was. This didn't sit well with Bo-Katan. Not one bit.

Bo-Katan's mission was to defeat Moff Gideon and claim the Darksaber for herself, to become the ruler of Mandalore. That opportunity has been taken from her. Annoyed would be putting it lightly. To Bo, this was her destiny, her right to rule Mandalore, and now, some nobody has claimed the throne. Could this drive Bo-Katan to become an antagonist in Season 3?
We don't want to say "THE" antagonist, as these Disney+ shows are collectively building up to THE antagonist, Grand Admiral Thrawn. But it is in the realm of possibility Bo-Katan could be against Din Djarin in Season 3. With Grogu gone, the character who was driving the narrative forward, we'll need a new driving force behind the show. That role will likely be filled by the Darksaber, the new McGuffin to drive the narrative forward in Season 3.
Whomever wields the Darksaber, by winning it in combat, rules Mandalore. Bo wanted it to unite her people and reclaim their homeworld. And now Din is in her way, throwing a wrench into her plan. I mean look at that face:
She is seeing red. To say she is annoyed would be an understatement. If it weren't for the Dark Troopers returning to the ship and the arrival of Luke Skywalker, she'd most likely be fighting Din for the Darksaber. There's a very good chance Season 3 will have them at odds. Mandalore is the endgame to The Mandalorian, and the Darksaber is the next step towards it. Din having ownership of the weapon will cause conflict, and Bo isn't just going to let it be.
Bo-Katan will most likely challenge Din for it. She wouldn't think her actions would be villainous. Everyone is the hero of their own story. But her actions would make her a villain to Din. All thanks to a misunderstanding. She's not doing it to be evil, she simply believes it's rightfully hers.
I don't see her being a "villain" for the Season. Perhaps for two or three episodes. Similar to how Greef Karga was a "villain" of sorts. But this development has hurt her plan of reclaiming Mandalore.
We know she and her merry band are stealing Imperial ships, they stole the freighter in Chapter 13 and now they've got Moff Gideon's light cruiser. They are gearing up for something and it's got to do with conflict on Mandalore. Why else would they be needing ships? Maybe unbeknownst to them, Mandalore is being held by Thrawn, but that's just me guessing.
It would be quite a way to kick off Season 3. Having Din and Bo being against each other, then having them find some middle ground to take on something that is more important than their misunderstanding/feud, such as an Imperial occupation of Mandalore. The Mandalorian Season 3 will debut on Disney+ sometime in 2022. If I was a betting man, I'd say late 2022.
