Here’s Who Divine Love Konadu-Sun Plays In ‘Black Panther: Wakanda Forever’
WARNING: SPOILERS FOR BLACK PANTHER: WAKANDA FOREVER
Black Panther: Wakanda Forever premiered this past weekend. It introduced us to the anti-hero Namor, who just wants to protect his people and kingdom. We also saw the return of characters from the first movie, such as Shuri, Okoye, M’Baku, Nakia, and Queen Ramonda. The movie was spectacular at honoring Chadwick Boseman while continuing the story of the Black Panther. After the actor’s death, Kevin Feige assured fans that they would not recast the role of T’Challa, and that was true, in a way.
The Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) is known for adding Easter eggs and hints at future films in their mid-credits and post-credits scenes. Wakanda Forever follows this tradition with its one and only mid-credits scene. After the main credits, the camera cuts back to Shuri sitting by the fire as she remembers her brother. She is joined by Nakia and a young boy. In his acting debut, Divine Love Konadu-Sun plays the role of Prince T’Challa, the son of King T’Challa and Nakia. He tells Shuri that his Haitian name is Toussaint, but his Wakandan name is T’Challa. While it is impossible to replace Chadwick Boseman, they were able to honor him and keep the name T’Challa in the Black Panther universe.

As the son of the late King T’Challa, he is the rightful heir to the Wakandan throne. Nakia implies that when he comes of age, he may ascend to the throne, and even take the mantle of the Black Panther. In Wakanda Forever, Shuri takes the synthesized heart-shaped herb and gains the powers of the Black Panther in order to protect Wakanda from Namor and the Talokanil. This means that she could eventually pass the torch to Prince T’Challa.
Young T’Challa could even join the Young Avengers in the future when the time is right. Since a movie like that is still a few years away, they may recast him for an older, more experienced actor. The character of Toussaint could also appear in Avengers: Kang Dynasty and Avengers: Secret Wars in a small role. However, it is most likely we will see this character again in Black Panther 3 as a fully-fledged Black Panther.
