Heather Langenkamp Wants To Follow In Jamie Lee Curtis' Footsteps By Reviving The 'Nightmare On Elm Street' Franchise
With the success of the Halloween reboot starring Jamie Lee Curtis reprising her role as Laurie Strode and the upcoming The Exorcist reboot starring Ellen Burstyn reprising her role as Chris MacNeil, it is no surprise that talk would arise about other possible reboots. What film could be next to get the reboot treatment? Well if actress Heather Langenkamp gets her way, it will be the A Nightmare on Elm Street series.
Best known for her role as Nancy Thompson in the 1984 Wes Craven classic, the actress voiced her hope for a possible return to Elm Street. While doing press for her new Netflix horror series The Midnight Club, Langenkamp told ET that after seeing the success of the new Halloween films and Jamie Lee Curtis reprising her role as Laurie Strode it excited her about the possibility of giving A Nightmare on Elm Street the same treatment. “I’d love to see that… I’ve been really watching the Halloween saga… I love watching Jamie Lee Curtis get to get to play that part.”
Fans have begged for a reboot of the franchise after the disaster of the 2010 remake of the film, but Robert Englund (who brought Freddy Krueger to life) said he was done with the role which made fans reconsider their dreams of a new film. Fans may still have a glimmer of hope after Robert Blum told ScreenRant that he could get Englund back if they chose to make another film. “I could make him come back. I can get anyone back. Ellen Burstyn was 87, and I got her back in The Exorcist.”
With Langenkamp on board and Blum promising he can bring back Englund, only time will tell if fans will finally get the film they’ve been begging for.
Halloween Ends hits theaters and Peacock on October 14. The Exorcist is expected to release on October 13, 2023. The Midnight Club is currently streaming on Netflix.
