The hilarious comedy about the Thelma and Louise of crime makes its stunning return this July with a brand new Harley Quinn Season 3. The series has no official day set for its release, but according to a newly revealed Press Release by Warner Media, it’s slated to debut next month.

The show will also be debuting on HBO Max exclusively for the first time. Harley Quinn Seasons 1 and 2 had originally debuted on the defunct DC Universe app–which is now the comic’s exclusive DC Universe Unlimited–before making its way to HBO Max thanks to the merger.

Season 2 ended with Harley and Ivy kissing while driving off into the sunset. This is of course after Poison Ivy had just left Kiteman at the alter of their planned wedding, as the newly liberated Harley and Ivy, proceeded to go on an “Eat, Bang, Kill, Tour”.

Speaking of which, Harley Quinn: The Animated Series: The Eat. Bang! Kill. Tour actually became the title for a rather funny DC comics series that debuted last year. The comics were in fact, the continuation of their LGBTQ romance story from the animated series before the show was officially picked up and confirmed for a Season 3 release.

During this considered-canon storyline, the women were still on the run from Commissioner Gordon, who despite breaking all senses of police jurisdiction, continued to pursue the women across America. This is exactly where Season 3 is slated to pick up with their return to Gotham.

"I definitely think we are going to see Gordon grapple with his, how should I say it, his low approval in Gotham city and the low approval of the police department in Gotham city," said showrunner Justin Halpern in an exclusive with ComicBook.com back during Harley Quinn’s sophomore season. "I think we're going to see... we're going to dive a little more into Ivy's life and then history. Origins. I think we're going to do that. I think those are really the only two things we've really kind of hit on so far in our preliminary discussions that were like, 'Yes, definitely want to do those things’”.

Harley Quinn has been a surprise critical hit for DC Animation. It’s a series that has gotten so popular that Director James Gunn, hot off the heels of his own DC projects of The Suicide Squad and Peacemaker, is expected to make a cameo, as–well, himself in all his newly-minted DC content glory. If that wasn’t enough in terms of Harley Quinn's funny absurdities, Kite Man has also just been greenlit for an official spinoff TV series. The show is planned to be a situation where Kiteman, voiced by veteran voice actor Matt Oberg, runs a supervillain hangout bar much in the style of the 1980s sitcom: Cheers.

Harley Quinn stars Kaley Cuoco as the titular princess of crime, with Lake Bell as the deadly Poison Ivy and Harley’s badass love partner, and Alan Tudyk as Clayface, The Joker, Calendar Man, and more. The series also includes The Haunting series veteran Rahul Kohli as Scarecrow, Brave and The Bold voice actor Diedrich Baker as Batman, beloved Arrested Development star Tony Hale as Doctor Psycho, and Ron Funchess as the quip-riddled King Shark. The animated series is being showrun by Justin Halpern and Patrick Schumacker, and the IP, is based on the Harley Quinn animated character that originally debuted in Batman: The Animated Series.
