Guy Pearce States His MCU Character May Not Be Gone Forever
It is a dream of many actors and actresses to be a part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. It is also a dream to play a villain in the MCU. However, the problem is, if you do get a dream role as a villain in the MCU, chances are, your character will be killed off or destroyed by the end movie, or a second one, if you are lucky. Many actors and actresses don’t think that one movie is enough and many would love the chance to come back. Guy Pearce is one of these actors.
Guy Pearce played the villain Aldrich Killian in Iron Man 3. Pearce is hoping that Killian will show back up again in the MCU, and it would give him a chance to reprise the role.

In an interview with Comicbookmovie.com, Guy Pearce talked about his chances of coming back to the MCU even though supervillain Aldrich Killian is definitely dead since his demise in Iron Man 3. Pearce optimistically said: “The idea of someone like Aldrich Killian coming back in some other shape or form is totally feasible.” Which, he is not wrong. Superhero comics, films, etc. love to bring back villains or other characters in various different ways. So, Guy Pearce’s hope about bringing Aldrich Killian back might not be too far-fetched.
Guy Pearce then went on to say:
“It's such a fascinating universe, really. The amazing thing about it is that it's not as clear cut as going, 'Well, a character dies so that's the end of them.' Also, obviously in films these days there are prequels, so people are going back to earlier stories or there are tangents going across."
And he’s definitely right about that. In Avengers: Infinity War, we thought we saw the last of Loki when Thanos kills him. However, Marvel went “psyche!” and we got a Disney+ show with Tom Hiddleston reprising his very loved role. In The Avengers, we thought we saw the last of Agent Phil Coulson. But when Marvel released Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., we learned that there are plenty of ways to bring back dead characters.
When we last saw Aldrich Killian, he had been scorched to death by Gwyneth Paltrow’s character Pepper Potts, and was most definitely very dead. Before the climax, Tony Stark’s enemy gained leverage by hiring Trevor Slattery, played by Ben Kingsley to impersonate the Mandarin. But then, when Slattery is revealed to not be the Mandarin, Aldrich Killian declares himself to be the true leader of the Ten Rings. However, very soon after this, he meets his doom at the hands of Pepper Potts.
With Marvel’s track record, it is very feasible that if they want to bring Aldrich Killian back from the dead, they will find a way. Characters in the Marvel universe are never quite really dead. There’s always a way to bring them back.
The discussion of bringing back Aldrich Killian isn’t quite out of the blue. Marvel Studios released a short called All Hail the King, which is now on Disney+. The short is about how Aldrich Killian based his puppet organization and character on a name he heard: the Mandarin. He then took that name and appropriated it for his own gain and schemes. This short was made and released due to backlash from fans about the Mandarin, and how the storyline from Iron Man 3 rubbed fans the wrong way.
To see the real Mandarin character and to learn about the real legend of the Ten Rings, see Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, now in theaters.
The discussion of whether or not we will ever see Aldrich Killian in the MCU again is just a discussion for now. But it is good to know that Guy Pearce would be open to coming back. And we all know that if Marvel wants to bring a character back, they will find a way.
