‘Book Of Boba Fett’ Director Says It Will Live Up To The Hype
The Book of Boba Fett is on the way. Soon, we shall see the return of the most feared bounty hunter in the known galaxy. Maybe not on the big screen as it was thought back in the day when a Boba Fett movie was in the works, but on a smaller screen on Disney+. The director and showrunner of the series Robert Rodriguez said that this show is “going to blow [our] minds.” What does this mean? What sort of mind blowing revelations will we see in this latest addition to the Disney+ gallery of shows?
Ever since Empire Strikes Back, Boba Fett had been one of those characters that fascinated Star Wars fans since day one. Even after his supposed death in Return of the Jedi, many could not imagine that it was truly the end for the famed bounty hunter. It was not until the prequel trilogy did we really get any backstory with his origin as the unaltered clone of another famed bounty hunter, Jango Fett. His latest appearance in The Mandalorian made fans cheer as they saw that he had indeed survived the sarlacc pit. Many wondered just how the old bounty hunter would fare now that he had returned.

Robert Rodriguez was an interesting choice to run such a show. His list of work is very diverse, from Sin City and El Mariachi to Spy Kids. He had made dark mature movies as well as kids movies. Perhaps he would be a good pick for a Star Wars show as he was someone who knew the balance a Star Wars adventure aimed for children and also introduce darker elements aimed for older viewers. Darker elements would be needed for the subject matter of Boba Fett, one of the most dangerous bounty hunters of all time. Nevertheless, in a recent interview with Collider, Robert Rodriguez promised to deliver:
“Wait until you see what’s coming. It’s going to blow your mind. That’s all I can say. I can talk it up all I want, because I know it over-delivers. It way over-delivers. People are going to be so pumped when they see it.”
Boba Fett was the kind of character who was best presented as an anti-hero, if not always a full time villain. Unlike, say, Din Djarin, who quickly became a hero by the end, Boba Fett should be allowed to have a darker edge given his past and his own personal battles against the epic heroes of Star Wars. For right now, no one knew what kind of stories would be told in Book of Boba Fett. Many considered that perhaps he would be out for revenge against anyone who had wronged him (and he would have a long list). Others thought he had plans to take over the underworld, and make a new criminal organization for himself. Maybe he was just tired and decided to sit on Jabba’s chair. It was a good chair after all.
While everything about Book of Boba Fett is still a mystery, it is a good sign to know that the director and showrunner is quite confident in the content and is excited by what he has to show. There has been a lot of hype surrounding Book of Boba Fett. After all, it is filling the shoes of the immensely popular Mandalorian while season 3 is in development.
The Star Wars universe has many exciting stories coming up the pipeline like the entire MandoVerse, Andor, and Obi-Wan Kenobi. It seems to be a real golden age of Star Wars. All these stories will add to the vast lore of the galaxy far, far away. Only time will tell if they will truly “blow our minds.”
