If you’ve followed video gaming news over the last couple of years, you’ll know that the industry is undergoing some major shifts. Those shifts are now just relegated to developers and publishers of the games themselves. Gaming magazines have been hit as well. Last year, Game Informer, a long-time magazine typically found in Gamestop stores, was shuttered by Gamestop after decades of gaming journalism.

Now, through the rights purchased by Gunzilla Games, Game Informer will return. And with the entire staff at the time of its shuttering. It’s quite amazing an accomplishment and a welcome sign of better things occurring in the gaming space.

Posted on their site, Matt Miller, the Editor-In-Chief for Game Informer and writing veteran for the magazine,  discussed the process that brought them back and how excited they all are to be able to write about games again under such a well-respected institution. Not only is the magazine back, both in print and online editions, but it will be a completely independent editorial endeavor, something Miller said their new owners insisted on. They will get to make their own decisions about what they cover and how they cover it.

The purchase by Gunzilla Games also brings back the thousands of articles that were lost when Gamestop shuttered the site, something that is an increasing threat in an ever-online world. The team has been working despite the lack of a site and company, still engrossed in the gaming world, so that they could restart the website with new content. Miller also mentioned that they will have a set of different subscription options for people who want to become a member and plan to revamp the print magazine as well.
