Composer Confirms A New Unknown 'Star Wars' Animated Project
Another new and exciting update has surfaced for Disney, Disney+ and Lucasfilm. The longtime music composer for Lucasfilm, Kevin Kiner, has revealed that a new animated series is in the works. Kiner has been the composer of Star Wars animated projects like The Clone Wars, The Bad Batch, and Star Wars Rebels. Obviously, this is great news for Disney and Lucasfilm and is exciting news for the Star Wars fanbase, as it is one more story to watch. The recent projects premiering on Disney’s storytelling streaming service have been such a delight. All the characters and storylines have been so interesting. This news about moving forward with another Star Wars animated series is exciting! Kevin Kiner is excited about the project as well and not divulging exactly what or who the animated series will be about is certainly a challenge. We can be sure of one thing though, there is something extraordinary waiting in the horizon for Disney, Lucasfilm, and the fanbase.
There are so many possibilities in which direction the series will go or which character the animated series will be about. So many characters have been reintroduced into the storyline of Star Wars, from the most recent Disney+ series and trilogy of the Star Wars saga. Some of the animated series such as The Clone Wars, Star Wars Rebels, and The Bad Batch also have filled in gaps that the original saga was not able to portray. The latest live action series have been just that; live and action-packed. It is great stuff! Other live productions that have yet to premiere will also add to the storytelling. The Star Wars franchise has been known for telling the stories of main characters through animation, comic books, novels, and video games. With the Disney+ streaming service it is a great time to add to the storytelling. Characters like Ahsoka Tano and Boba Fett have been major roles in recent and upcoming productions. The Book of Boba Fett and The Mandalorian have reintroduced a favorite character and main Jedi of the saga, Luke Skywalker. It will be interesting to see what other characters may be added to the storytelling or even given a whole series.
RELATED: The Next Animated ‘Star Wars’ Series Could Be All About Darth Maul
Learning about Darth Maul’s story would be a great addition to the Star Wars saga. He is a villain that has premiered in animation since what was thought to be his death in The Phantom Menace. Remember, Darth Maul appeared in the animated series, The Clone Wars Season 5 and then again in the newly added Season 7 where he battled with Ahsoka Tano. He also appeared in the animated series, Star Wars Rebels. Many times, throughout the Star Wars saga, Darth Maul has dueled with Obi-Wan Kenobi as well. Their last duel was in the Star Wars Rebels animated series, but Darth Maul is known for rising from the dead. It was also reported that Sam Witmer was recording for the animated Darth Maul back in 2021. The other possibility for the new animated series is one that is titled Star Wars: Tales of the Jedi, based on the adventures of Luke Skywalker. Kevin Kiner is excited though, and he commented in an interview:
“You know, we are working on a new project. It’s an animated project. It’s a Star Wars project. And that’s all we can say. It’s really, really frikkin’ great… To the point where Lucasfilm and Disney are giving us full orchestra for every episode… It’s a very special project, some great, great people are involved, and we’re really privileged to be part of that one. And I probably said too much already.”
Not much else can be said for now. There is much speculation leading into a very exciting and buzz worthy year(s) of new Star Wars. The first part of the summer Star Wars celebration will kick off with the Obi-Wan Kenobi series. Hopefully the Star Wars fanbase will get to see a few trailers for the new projects in the works, and more confirmation on the characters and storylines of those projects. The Star Wars franchise just seems to be booming! There is much to look forward to for Star Wars fans.
