First Official Trailer For 'Five Nights At Freddy's' Adaptation Drops
The wait is finally over for Five Nights At Freddy’s fans, as the first official trailer for Blumhouse’s trailer has dropped. This trailer opens with what appears to be a training video for new hires in the security department for the pizzeria, giving fans their first glimpse at Freddy Fazbear’s animatronic band during the daylight. The scene soon shifts, however, as the new security guard, Mike Schmit (played by Jason Hutchinson) explores his surroundings, only to soon find himself trapped underneath one of the animatronics. Intercut with this are scenes of similar happenings occurring around the area of the family pizza parlor.
The film is based on the wildly popular Five Nights At Freddy’s video game franchise created by Scott Cawthon, which had its first release in 2014. This series of video games focus on a security guard who must defend themselves against animatronics who can “get a bit quirky at night.” Development of the film began back in 2015 with Warner Brothers at the helm of the project. However, production came to a halt in January of 2017 before being picked up by Blumhouse and Universal in March of that same year. The film features Jason Hutchinson as security guard Mike Schmit, and Matthew Lillard (known for Shaggy in the Scooby Doo live-action movies and the main voice of the character since 2009) as William Afton. Other actors signed on include Elizabeth Lail, Piper Rubio as Abby Schmit, Kat Conner Sterline, Mary Stuart Masterson as an unnamed villain, Lucas Grant, and Jessica Blackmore. Five Nights At Freddy’s is set to be released in theaters and on the Peacock streaming service on October 27th of this year.
