The future Disney+ series Star Wars: Andor will focus on Cassian Andor, who was a central character in the movie Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. The much-loved character will continue to be portrayed by Diego Luna in the series.

Several stars have already been cast to star alongside Luna in the new show. Adria Arjona and Robert Emms join him, as will two-time Olivier award-winner actress Denise Gough. Veteran Swedish actor Stellan Skarsgård, father to actors Alexander, Gustaf, Bill, and Valter, is on the show. Genevieve O'Reilly will continue in her role as Mon Mothma, and Fiona Shaw is also part of the cast.

Fiona Shaw is a veteran actress on stage and film. She took part in many productions with the Royal Shakespeare Company and the National Theatre for the stage. She won the 2019 BAFTA Award for Supporting Actress for her work in BBC's thrilling and quirky series, Killing Eve. However, she is best known to us geeks and nerds as Petunia Dursley from the Harry Potter film series.

BBC's The One Show recently interviewed Shaw. During the interview, she was asked about her role on the new series. The interview caught the attention of fans everywhere because of her response. As noted in the much-shared Twitter clip from user Paul Edwards, her response was very intriguing!

Shaw implied she might be related to the main character. She noted that she was an Andor. It is hard to tell if Shaw was teasing something for fans. On the other hand, the question may have flustered her, and she causing her to misspeak. Her exact words:

"It's an Andor series and it's about people called 'Andor,' of which I am one. And the main part, of course, is the marvelous Mexican actor and he plays the hero who runs around, who is Diego Luna, and he has adventures in space. It's set well before the Star Wars series so it's a prequel to Star Wars."

Fans and groups have been picking apart her remarks ever since. Most agree that they are at best masterfully ambiguous or at worst confusing non-fan utterances. Please recall the level of secrecy around any Disney project. Shaw's delightfully goofy way of describing her role on the show could potentially be a master class in obfuscation under the guise of bewilderment.

Many focused on her use of the phrase, "people called 'Andor.'" Those folks may not understand a common British English idiom or expression when addressing oneself or family name. Instead of asking, "What is your name?" sometimes you are asked, "What are you called?"

Given that understanding, she did not reveal much that we do not already know about the show. Andor is probably a surname. It could also be a title. For example, we already know it focuses on the Andor family or clan. The only thing we now may know is that Shaw is more than likely a member of that family.

The movie Rogue One did not delve into the backstories of any of its characters. Instead, it only teased the bare minimum needed to move that story along. Andor is obviously a prequel to Rogue One. It will focus on Cassian during the early years of the Rebellion. We will see and understand more about how the Rebellion takes shape over those years. Andor will allow fans to explore Cassian's history, including his family, while we follow him along in stories filled with espionage and adventure.

The show Star Wars: Andor will premiere on Disney+ sometime in 2022. Fans of Rogue One are looking forward to the new show. Are you? If so, let us know what you think!
