Ewan McGregor Says He Isn't Looking To Join The MCU At Fan Expo Boston
It appears that Ewan McGregor hasn’t set his sights on entering another hit franchise. After a triumphant return to Star Wars in the Disney+ series Obi-Wan Kenobi earlier this summer, and a turn as the DC villain Roman Sionis in Birds of Prey, fans have speculated that McGregor might be due for a Marvel Cinematic Universe debut.
However, the actor has demurred about any plans regarding a Marvel role. During an onstage panel at Fan Expo Boston, McGregor said of the possibility of entering the MCU:

“I don't know. I don't know that I want to do that because I love doing all different kinds of work. It's true. I love to direct. I'd like to be in the theater again. I definitely want to do this again, you know, I'm in this Star Wars world. I feel like I don't need another... I'm not looking for that anyway. I feel like I shouldn't say I wouldn't do it because in two years time you'll be like, 'You said you were never going to do this!' But I'm not looking for it particularly.”
McGregor also commented on his excitement to return to the Star Wars world and the fan response to Obi-Wan Kenobi, saying, "I think it's really cool that Disney and Lucasfilm care so much for the fan experience.”
Given his acting prowess in other major franchises, McGregor would no doubt be up for the challenge of bringing an MCU character to life. For now, however, fans will have to content themselves with McGregor’s long-awaited return to a galaxy far, far away.
