During the Hall H panel back in July at San Diego Comic-Con, Marvel announced new projects all the way through to Phase 6. One of those new projects was the new Captain America movie. At D23 this weekend, they finally released a bit more about the movie, and we are going to see some familiar faces again.

After Steve Rogers gave the mantle to Sam Wilson in Avengers: Endgame, we all thought he was automatically going to meet Captain America. In Falcon and Winter Soldier Sam gave the mantle to the government, who then reassigned it to a military man named John Walker. Sam and Bucky didn’t think he deserved the mantle. John Walker took advantage of it, which caused Bucky and Sam to fight him. In the end, Sam wins and gets what is rightfully his, to become the new Captain America.

A new logo was also revealed.

Captain America: New World Order stars Anthony Mackie as Captain America. At D23, it was announced that Carl Lumbly will reprise his role as supersoldier, Isaiah Bradley. Danny Ramirez has been officially announced as the new Falcon, after being given the mantle by Sam. We were first introduced to both of these characters in Falcon and Winter Soldier.  We learned that Shira Haas has been cast as Sabra, an Israeli superheroine. Tim Blake Nelson was first seen as The Leader in The Incredible Hulk and will be reprising his role, and playing the movie’s main villain. Julius Onah will be directing the film, and has described it as a “paranoid thriller”.

The MCU Phase 5 film will release May 3, 2024, in theaters.
