Everything That Happened At This Morning’s Galaxy Unpacked 2022 Event
This morning Samsung held its yearly Galaxy Unpacked event unveiling its latest lineup of Galaxy phones, devices, and accessories. As expected the company unveiled two new foldables, the Galaxy Flip 4, and Galaxy Fold 4 along with The Galaxy Watch 5, and Galaxy Buds Pro 2. Overall, not much has changed from last year but there are some notable changes that we should discuss.
Galaxy Z Flip 4
The Galaxy Z Flip 4 features a 6.7-inch AMOLED, 120Hz main display, and a 1.9-inch cover display on its outer shell. For reference, this is the same dimensions as last year’s Galaxy Z Flip 3.
This new Galaxy features mostly internal changes, including an upgraded camera with a 65 percent brighter sensor than last year’s version, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 processor, an IPX8 water resistance rating, and finally a 3,700MAh battery.
The Camera Inside features a 10MP selfie camera and a dual rear camera with a 12MP ultra-wide and a 12MP Wide-angle lens. The Galaxy Z Flip will come in color options will be available in the Galaxy Z Flip 4: Purple, Graphite, Pink Gold, and Blue. Finally, it will retail for the same $999.99 price point and will be released on August 26, 2022.
Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4
First off, the Galaxy Fold 4 is keeping its same 7.6-inch internal folding display as well as its 6.2-inch cover display.
The Fold features a Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 processor, IPX8 water resistance rating, and features a 4,400mAh battery.
The new Fold 4 is also rocking a new 10MP selfie camera, 4MP under-display camera, and a triple rear camera setup with a 12MP ultra-wide, 50MP wide-angle, and 10MP telephoto camera. Samsung says the new camera has a 23 percent brighter camera sensor as well.
Features of the Galaxy Fold 4 include a new Taskbar, which will provide a PC-like layout, and will ship with Android12L, which is a special version of Android that is specially designed for larger displays and is the first phone to do so.
The Galaxy Fold 4 starts at $1,799.99 and will be available in Phantom Black, Grey-green, and Beige. Preorders start today and the phone will release on August 26, 2022.
Samsung Galaxy Watch 5 & Galaxy Watch 5 Pro
This is a first for Samsung this morning announcing not only one but two new wearables during this morning’s event. The Galaxy Watch 5 and 5 Pro.
The entry-level wearable is available in 40mm and 44mm options, featuring both Bluetooth and LTE options. The 44mm option shows off a Blue, White, and Graphite color for its bands as well as Blue, Silver, or Graphite case options. The 40mm on the other hand includes a Graphite, Silver, and a Pink Gold Option with either a Graphite, Purple, or Pink Gold band.
The Galaxy Watch 5 is more simplistic coming in just one size 45mm and Grey Black for the case and band.
Both versions feature Samsung’s 3-in-1 BioActive sensor, which features an Electrical heart sensor, a heart rate sensor, and an optical heart sensor. These new watches also feature Advance Sleep Coaching to help better track your sleeping habits, and finally, a temperature sensor has been added as well.
The Galaxy Watch 5 will release on August 26, 2022, starting at $279.99 for the Bluetooth version and $329.99 for the LTE version. The Galaxy Watch 5 Pro will start at $449.99, and $499.99 for the LTE version.
Galaxy Buds 2 Pro
Lastly, we got our first look a the Galaxy Buds2 Pro. These new Buds show off a much-needed compact redesign that is marketed as 28 percent smaller than their previous version.
The new Buds2 also feature 24-bit Hi-fi sound which will require a Galaxy phone that is running Samsung’s One UI 4.0 or above. They come in 3 colors Bora Purple, White, and Graphite. They do however come with a price increase to $229.99 and will be released on August 26, 2022, with preorders coming today.
