Could This 'Return Of The Jedi' Character Return To Cause Havoc In 'The Book Of Boba Fett'?
Star Wars is filled with amazing, terrifying, fantastic, and dangerous creatures of all shapes and sizes. The galaxy is literally teeming with them. Perhaps one of the most famous of those creatures is Salacious B. Crumb, and it is not just because he has one of the most fun names in Star Wars. Fans of the series will recognize Crumb as the Kowakian monkey-lizard in Jabba’s palace. He served as Jabba’s pet and court jester, and his laughter echoed through all the throne room scenes in Return of the Jedi. It seemed that Crumb met with a similar fate as Jabba the Hutt and the rest of his crew when Jabba’s sail barge crashed, or so we thought. New information could suggest that Salacious B. Crumb will appear in The Book of Boba Fett.
The original Star Wars databank entry on the official Star Wars website stated that Salacious B. Crumb was presumed dead when the said barge crashed, but apparently, this is now considered to be Star Wars Legends. The particular databank entry has now been updated, and there is currently no mention of Salacious B. Crumb dying in the sail barge crash. It appears the current canon neither confirms nor denies his death. Not only has his databank entry been changed, but Jennifer Landa recently wrote an article about Crumb on the official Star Wars website where she describes him as being incredibly crafty and hand with various machinery. She also states that Crumb was one of the closest people (or rather creatures) to Jabba, and, because of his station next to Jabba, “knows all the secrets.” She also suggests that Crumb could even know more than Bib Fortuna.

All of this together has led people to speculate that we could be seeing Crumb pop up in The Book of Boba Fett. With Boba Fett seemingly taking over Jabba’s palace and his entire crime organization, it would be plausible that he might find a small lizard-monkey scurrying around the hideout. After all, we have already seen the return of Bib Fortuna, albeit briefly, when Boba returned to the palace. Perhaps Crumb will become Boba’s pet and aid him in his crime crusade. It would be pretty cool to see Boba traveling with a crafty creature that can make blasters and take apart ships, which would also be useful for someone going after other crime syndicates. Of course, this is all just a theory.
It is also worth noting that the article that was written by Landa discusses how he could be considered creepy in Return of the Jedi, so this could have just been a themed article for Halloween. It is also worth mentioning that this could have been written to tie in with Star Wars Galaxy of Creatures, which is a micro-series that debuted on YouTube and StarWarsKids.com. The series highlights creatures across the galaxy, including the Kowakian monkey-lizard. It shows off the creature’s sense of humor and intelligence, which tie in well with the article.
Admittedly, his appearance in The Book of Boba Fett is a bit of a stretch. While it is possible Salacious B. Crumb survived the crashed barge, who knows if he would have been able to navigate back to the palace through the great expanse of Tatooine desert regardless of his intelligence. If he did make it back to the palace, who is to say if Bib Fortuna or even Boba Fett would want to keep him around? That being said, it would be amazing if Crumb could make a comeback if only just for a brief cameo. In the current universe of Star Wars, anything is possible.
