Breaking News for Marvel and Game of Thrones fans!!! It has now been announced that actress Emilia Clarke has been added to the cast of Marvel's Secret Invasion TV series, one of the recently announced upcoming Marvel projects for streaming service Disney+.

Emilia Clarke is no doubt best known for her role in HBO's Game of Thrones, based on the fantasy novel series A Song of Ice and Fire by George R.R. Martin. In the show, she played Dragon Queen Daenerys Targaryen from the first episode of season 1 to the final episode in season 8. For her work on the show, she would be nominated for several accolades, including four Emmy Award nominations. The role launched her firmly into the spotlight.

Her work on Game of Thrones, along with the numerous pieces of charitable work she has done in her personal time, led Time magazine to name her as one of the 100 most influential people in 2019.

Following her role as Daenerys, Emilia would go on to star in Terminator Genisys, playing an alternate version of Sarah Connor (a role made famous by actress Linda Hamilton in the first two movies of the Terminator franchise), as well as Qi'ra in the standalone Star Wars film Solo: A Star Wars Story. Whilst she herself would receive praise for her respective roles, neither film performed very well at the box office.

Nevertheless, with this news, it means she will be joining forces with Marvel actors Samuel L. Jackson and Ben Mendelsohn, who will be reprising their characters as Nick Fury and Skrull Talos, respectively. Also included in the cast so far are Kingsley Ben-Adir, known to be playing the main antagonist of the series, and Olivia Colman (recently known for playing Queen Elizabeth II in seasons 3 and 4 of the hit Netflix Series The Crown).

It is not yet known which character Clarke has signed on to play, and any further plot details are, at this point in time, still being kept very much under wraps. However, based on the above casting details, we know she'll be with very good company.

Marvel's Secret Invasion is set to go into production this fall. As always, we will keep you updated on any further details as and when they are known.

Until next time!
