Elden Ring Nightreign was previously announced at the 2024 Game Awards, and won’t be released until May. However, Austen Goslin of Polygon has managed to play a bit of it ahead of the Network Test, and is giving us all some more information. The game appears to be a battle royale experience with the usual Soulslike trappings. There are four archetypes in the game, the defensive Guardian, the offensive Wylder, the supportive Duchess, and the magical Recluse, four more will be added in the final game. Players are dropped into maps with enemies and loot, and are pulled into the center for an epic boss fight, in which they work together.

Austen Goslin appeared to consider the game a worthy fusion of Elden Ring and battle royale, and it sounds interesting. The network test is planned to take place over the weekend; registrations ended on January 20th, so hopefully you managed to get in. If not, then you’ll just have to wait a while, but hopefully it’ll be worth it in the end. The folks at FromSoftware have made many successful games, and we have full confidence in their abilities. Please be sure to read Culture Slate for any further updates, as they will no doubt be coming soon.
