Edward Perspective Version Of 'Twilight' Gets An Animated Series At Netflix
Twilight fans will soon get an animated adaptation of a popular Twilight spin-off novel courtesy of Netflix. Netflix has ordered an animated straight-to-series adaptation of Stephanie Meyer’s 2020 Twilight spin-off novel, Midnight Sun. Midnight Sun is not a “new” Twilight story but rather essentially a retelling of the events of the first Twilight novel, albeit from Edward Cullen’s perspective rather than Bella’s.
Sinead Daly will serve as the writer and executive producer of the series, along with Twilight series author Stephanie Meyer, as well as Meghan Hibbett. Meyer wrote four novels in the Twilight Series, as well as a spin-off novel about a side character featured in the third novel in the series, Eclipse, entitled The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner, Midnight Sun, and Life and Death: Twilight Reimagined, which gender-swapped Bella and Edward’s characters. Some of the original novels were also adapted as Graphic Novels.
The original novel series led to five lucrative film adaptations (The final book, Breaking Dawn, was split into two films), which made stars of actors Robert Pattinson (Edward), Kristen Stewart (Bella), and Taylor Lautner (Jacob). The Midnight Sun series is currently in development at Netflix, although no tentative release date has been provided as of yet, nor any casting information.
