Earth And Fire Join Water As Netflix Announce Two More Seasons Of 'Avatar: The Last Airbender'
Two weeks ago Netflix released the long awaited Avatar: The Last Airbender live-action adaptation. In eight episodes they took Aang, Katara, and Sokka on a journey to the Northern Water Tribe, evading the persistent Prince Zuko. It quickly became Netflix’s number one show. While it may have received some less than stellar early reviews, it’s continuing to top Netflix’s viewer charts.
That bit of information seems to have been all Netflix needed to see to greenlight the remaining two seasons. That’s right, Book Two: Earth, and Book Three: Fire will be coming to Netflix. Daniel Dae Kim, who plays Fire Lord Ozai, tweeted out a group call where he tricked the cast into the announcement.

Excitement about the news spread quickly on the internet, largely because fans are really excited to see how they adapt one of, if not the, show’s most popular character, Toph Beifong. Toph Beifong is the earthbending member of Team Avatar, and aside from her sassy, confident demeanor, she is blind, and she uses earthbending to see.
Other things that people were excited to see if they’ll be adapted is the famous Ember Island Players episode of season three, where Team Avatar watches a really bad play of their journey. Most are excited to see what is arguably one of the best character arcs in TV history, and that would of course be the one involving Zuko. Paul Sun-Hyung Lee himself tweeted a gif in reply to people being excited to see Uncle Iroh get swoll.
There hasn’t been any announcement of when things will kick off, but given the concern over aging, they are likely to get to work right away.
