Fans of the Star Wars: The Old Republic will be glad to hear of a new expansion teasing Darth Malgus’ newest plan to destroy both the Galactic Republic and the Sith Empire in the Star Wars universe. The story teaser for the expansion Legacy of the Sith featuring Darth Malgus was uploaded to YouTube on January 27, 2022, by the Star Wars: The Old Republic YouTube channel. The Star Wars: The Old Republic website goes further into what to expect from this expansion. It had this to say on the Legacy of the Sith story:

“The war between the Galactic Republic and the Sith Empire spreads to new worlds! Dangerous fringe groups rise in the dark corners of the galaxy and Darth Malgus pursues an unknown plan… Unravel these mysteries and more as your choices continue to shape the galaxy.”

The official website claims that players can now separate their Class Story from gameplay style, allowing for an even more personalized experience. It will free up Advanced Class options so characters can choose any Advanced class within the Tech or Force playstyles. Players can even use Dark Side powers while posing as a Jedi. In addition, players can expect to return to the underwater depths of Manaan and explore a ruined Sith fortress on the planet Elom.

Star Wars: The Old Republic is a massively multiplayer online role-playing game within the Star Wars universe that was developed by BioWare. The game was first announced back on October 21, 2008. The story starts shortly after the establishment of a frail peace between the Sith Empire and the Galactic Republic. In the game, players can choose from eight different classes where each class has a three-act storyline that progresses as the character levels up. The game allows players to join either the Republic or the Sith, though the member can choose to switch sides throughout their gameplay. Star Wars: The Old Republic also allows players extensive customization options and fully voiced dialogue for their characters. The game is currently free-to-play but does have a subscription option. Since the release of the game, several books and comics based have also been released, furthering its stories.

Darth Malgus was a high-ranking Sith Lord in Star Wars: The Old Republic lore. He was known as a destroyer, discoverer, and diplomat. He could be found on Ilum and in The False Emperor Flashpoint. Darth Malgus was different from the other Sith because he took on an alien lover who he treated more like a wife than a slave. She was with him during the destruction of the Jedi Temple on Coruscant, where he took the life of Jedi Master Ven Zallow. He would hire mercenaries from species most would deem untrustworthy and even learned dozens of languages. The main thing that set him apart from other Sith was the fact that Darth Malgus walked away from the power games within the Sith Empire. While other Sith were busy fighting to control armies and resources to land a spot on the Dark Council, Darth Malgus focused on leading military expeditions into the Unknown Regions of the galaxy. He devoted himself to claiming new territories and spreading the influence of the Sith Empire.

Whether you are a new fan of Star Wars: The Old Republic or an old one, this expansion has a lot of promise. Darth Malgus is one of the most memorable Sith in the Star Wars universe and fans will be eager to see more of him. Fans can expect to unravel the mysteries and more when the expansion Legacy of the Sith is available for PC on February 15, 2022.
