After a series of delays due to the Hollywood strikes, Dune: Part Two surprised fans with an earlier release date. Instead of releasing on March 15, the movie will come to cinemas on March 1, 2024. After Universal changed Ryan Gosling’s The Fall Guy to a May 3 release, theaters were happy to use Dune to fill the gap. Part Two will be playing in regular theaters along with a two or three-week run in Imax and Imax 70 mm. Cast members Rebecca Ferguson, Dave Bautista, and Josh Brolin reprise their roles from the first film. Joining the stars Chalamet and Zendaya are Austin Butler, Florence Pugh, Christopher Walken, and Lea Seydoux as newcomers to the franchise.

Part Two focuses on the mythic journey of Paul Atreides (Timothee Chalamet) teaming up with Chari (Zendaya) and other Fremen to avenge his family and prevent a terrible future. The director Denis Villeneuve hopes to make a third and final installment in the Dune series before stepping away from the franchise. Comparing the original film to its sequel, Villeneuve said, “Part One is more of a contemplative movie. Part Two is an action-packed, epic war movie. It is much more dense. We went to all new locations. I didn't want a feeling of repetition. It’s all new sets. Everything is new.”
