Don Cheadle Gives Update On Marvel’s ‘Armor Wars’
With the culmination of Loki in a packed finale that gave us more questions than answers, Marvel fans across the board are looking forward to what comes next for the Marvel Cinematic Universe. While numerous projects are scheduled to release in the near future, including Shang-Chi and the Ten Rings in September and the first season of What If...? debuting in August, in true Marvel fan fashion, we will be looking far into the future with a new, if small, update about Armor Wars. In a recent interview with Collider, Don Cheadle spoke about the upcoming Disney+ show that is rumored to deal with Stark tech falling into the wrong hands. When asked for details about Armor Wars, Cheadle seemed just as in the dark as fans are saying:
"All I know is that we're going to go into the room in a couple of weeks and actually start trying to break the spine of the story and figure out who, what, when, and where for all of it. It's super early in the development stages so I couldn't even spoil it if I wanted to. I don't know what happens."
By the sound of it, the story group will be meeting sometime in August to really get down into the nitty gritty of what Armor Wars will be about. Much of Phase 4 of the MCU has already begun tackling the transition from the Infinity War era and its heroes to a broader, more diverse realm of superhero film. With the death of Tony Stark, Natasha Romanoff, the retirement of Steve Rodgers, and the still yet to be determined fate of the Vision, it is time for the "B-Team" of Avengers to lead the way. As seen in the final scene of Age of Ultron, Rhodey and Wanda both fit into this "second generation" of Avengers alongside our newly dubbed Captain America, Sam Wilson. Just as Wilson has taken the mantle of Cap in his Disney+ show, will Armor Wars revolve around Rhodey stepping up to take Tony's place in the Avengers? Perhaps it will be in a more militant than scientific nature.

While the idea of iron suits once again battling it out over New York or other familiar locales may seem a bit paltry in the face of multiversal madness and the likes of Dr. Strange, Loki, Sylvie, Wanda, or He Who Remains, if there were to be a multiversal war, a vast number of soldiers would be required. If Marvel hopes to build up Phase 4 into a crossover finale on par with Endgame, they will have to include a staple of the MCU, Stark tech. With Sharon Carter aka the Power Broker embedded deep within the fabric of intelligence community and seemingly lining up buyers for all the dirty secrets and top secret technology she can get her hands on, it is a distinct possibility that the Avengers will be on the wrong end of the Iron Legion's wrist rockets.
