RELEASE DATE SWAPS
With the return of Marvel's most powerful heroines, The Marveis is scheduled for release in February 2023. Captain Marvel, Kamala Kahn (Ms. Marvel), and Monica Rambeau protect the Earth from cosmic threats. Unfortunately, at this point, the details of the plot are mostly unknown, except that it is still in the works.
On that note, Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania and The Marvels swap their release dates as Ant-Man finished production earlier than The Marvels. As it stands, Ant-Man drops on February 17, 2023, and The Marvels will release on July 28, 2023.
WHAT OF THE MARVELS?
The Marvels are a unique team of superheroes attributed to Marvel's moniker in the name. Comic history will show several characters donning The Marvels' identity. With three of the heroes seen on screen, it may give slight hints to who or how many are to be cast alongside this new super team.
Here are some takes on what could be in store as there are no trailers or little information as film theories go.
CAPTAIN MARVEL
Several speculations in the story might tie in with Disney+ shows, such as Loki Season 2 and the Secret Invasion. These two projects have continuity elements, such as the Kree that are left to be possibly offered.
A post on IMDB shows that John Humber—who worked on the production of Captain Marvel—is working on The Marvels as an assistant to Jude Law, who plays Yon-Rogg, which could be a potential plot point. Of course, the Kree Empire would most likely have several changes within a 30-year period since the events of Captain Marvel, so that's another thing to consider with continuity, which could lead to some exciting theory crafting.
MS. MARVEL
In the comics Kamala Kahn and Carol Danvers(Captain Marvel), it is implied they have worked well together over time. Before their meeting, Kamala was in a bombing incident that initiated her powers. Her shapeshifting ability turned her into a superhero like her hero, Captain Marvel. She's definitely going to be a new hero the kids can look up to with her quirky personality and charm.
Additionally, once shown, Ms. Marvel and Kamala's story arc could lead to additional insights into where The Marvel's story arc will go. Ms. Marvel previews on June 8 on Disney+
MONICA RAMBEAU
Monica Rambeau/Spectrum is one of Marvel's most powerful heroines. For comic fans, she was even one of the first Avengers nominated by Captain America himself and even led the team briefly. Though undergoing several nicknames and monikers, she'll be a crucial team member for sure. Her debut in Captain Marvel as a young child would reveal a sense of progression. Wandavision explores her character and powers during a few episodes with hints at being Captain Marvel's equal or maybe even superior. Her role in S.W.O.R.D could hint at the setting for The Marvels. You can find Monica Rambeau in Wandavision, that's currently streaming on Disney+.
While many things may lead to speculations and floating theory discussions, what is known to many fans is to witness the challenge and buildup of a new generation of heroes to take on the mantles of responsibility of their predecessors.
