Did 'The Book Of Boba Fett' Finale Provide A Hint To Grogu's Fate In The Sequels?

As the final episode of The Book of Boba Fett comes to a close, Grogu’s future becomes a little clearer; or does it? Star Wars fans know that Grogu chose Din Djarin, not Luke Skywalker. But what does this really mean? Since Grogu was first introduced in the 2019 Disney+ series The Mandalorian, there is much to speculate. Is everyone now in love with the adorable child, later identified as Grogu, a Jedi!? He looks like Yoda, so why not? He is of Yoda’s species. The Star Wars timeline has grown increasingly exciting and meaningful with new characters and stories. This cliffhanging strategy by Star Wars creators and storytellers is really leaving the Star Wars fanbase on the edge of their seats. Conversations at the workplace have been engaging in anticipation of what Star Wars has to bring next.

It looks as though Star Wars writers and producers have given its fanbase insight into why Grogu never appeared in Star Wars sequels. Watching The Book of Boba Fett series on Disney+, Grogu seemed to have been trained by Luke Skywalker for a very brief time before deciding to return to his adopted father, Din Djarin. In Chapter 6 of The Book of Boba Fett, Grogu trains Luke Skywalker to learn more about his powers and future. At the end of Chapter 6 of The Book of Boba Fett, Luke Skywalker asks Grogu to decide between Din Djarin and him. Din Djarin had Ahsoka Tano give Grogu a chainmail vest made of beskar to protect him. Ahsoka delivered the vest to Luke Skywalker, who then presented it to Grogu.

In Chapter 7, Grogu chooses Din Djarin. Grogu and R2-D2 flew Luke’s X-Wing to Tatooine to meet Din Djarin. The question here is: Does Luke even know? Did Grogu steal Luke’s X-Wing Fighter? R2-D2 was just doing his duties, saving and keeping an eye on Grogu until he ended up in someone’s care. After Grogu arrives on Tatooine, there are no more scenes with R2-D2. This can leave many to speculate. So, does Grogu return to Luke Skywalker after he helps Din Djarin in the gang war on Tatooine between Boba Fett’s administration and the Pyke Gang?

The questions remain unanswered. At the end of Chapter 7 of The Book of Boba Fett, Grogu and Din Djarin are together in Djarin’s new spacecraft. However, there is no indication of where they are headed. This leaves fans to speculate that The Mandalorian, Season 3, could be about Din Djarin, Luke Skywalker, and Grogu. Or does Grogu’s choice offer some insight into Luke Skywalker’s failure as a Jedi Master? Was Grogu even at the Jedi Temple massacre? The timeline is important here.

There are still approximately 25 years until The Force Awakens, which leaves the timeline open for adventures with Din Djarin, Grogu, and Luke Skywalker. Hence, the question: Is there room for Grogu, maybe after The Rise of Skywalker? It’s likely Din and Grogu prefer to stay clear of galactic conflicts, just to make sure Grogu is safe. But Grogu’s decision to leave Luke behind probably gave seed to Luke’s decision to end the Jedi Order.

The Star Wars saga is getting more and more exciting with each series. The fanbase has to applaud Disney+ and Lucasfilm’s producers and writers for bringing some compelling stories to the Star Wars saga. There are many new Disney+ series starting in 2022. It has been announced that The Mandalorian, Season 3 is set to air at the end of the year. In addition, Ahsoka Tano’s series is coming soon. Many areas to see more of Grogu, Din Djarin, and Luke Skywalker are apparent. Star Wars fans are anticipating what these series are set to bring them.
