'Deadpool & Wolverine' Continues To Dominate The Box Office With New Milestone
The boys are back in town, as Deadpool & Wolverine continue to climb the box office charts. The superhero comedy blockbuster has now made $630.4M worldwide, even more than the previous movie featuring Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine, Logan, which only made $619M; we can expect some commentary about that. Jackman and Ryan Reynolds are heading one of the most successful movies of the year, rivaled only by Inside Out 2, which was released by the same company, albeit under different labels. It appears that Wolverine & Deadpool is becoming a phenomenon, and it shows no real signs of stopping anytime soon.
Wolverine & Deadpool is the third film in the Deadpool series. Starring Ryan Reynolds as the titular mercenary, it also features the iconic X-Men mutant, with Australian actor Hugh Jackman reprising his role for what is expected to be the final time. The film’s story centers around the Time Variance Authority, a tie-in to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, trying to destroy Deadpool’s universe, leading him to team up with a Wolverine from a different universe in order to save it. Integrating Deadpool into the MCU, the film retains its R rating but is now under the Marvel Studios label, and is a swan song to 20th Century’s Marvel movies.
