According to a Bloomberg report, David Zaslav, Warner Bros. Discover CEO may be conducting “early and informal” talks with potential replacements for current studio heads, Mike De Luca and Pam Abdy. No formal decisions have been made as of yet. Per the report, talks are “at an early and informal stage.” According to Bloomberg, the rumor is based on some of the most recent titles tanking at the box office. This includes Joker: Folie à Deux and Mickey 17.

Robert Gibbs, a spokesperson for Warner Bros. Discovery, neither confirmed nor denied that talks about replacing De Luca and Abdy are genuine. He assured Bloomberg, however, that “the rumor of an imminent leadership change at the studio is not accurate,” suggesting that with many potential box office wins on the horizon, the leadership duo’s fate may not be sealed just yet.

De Luca and Abdy have felt the weight of several of the studio’s box office disasters since they assumed leadership in 2022. However, some of the disappointments fell on their plate from their predecessors. Minecraft is 100% their project and is expected to do well when it hits theaters this weekend. Ryan Coogler’s Sinners is coming up as well. They have a project currently in production, which is expected to premiere this fall, starring Leonardo DiCaprio. In the Fall of 2026, they have a not-yet-titled project on the books with another A-lister, Tom Cruise.
