D23’s Grandiose Opening Ceremonies Will Include The Disney Legends Awards Ceremony Alongside A Sneak Peek Of ‘Disney 100 Years Of Wonder’
D23 is the biggest Disney-centric convention globally. Of course, it helps that it is sponsored and put on by the House of Mouse, but every year we get massive announcements and big reveals. And now that both Star Wars and Marvel are under the Disney umbrella expect all our appetites to be satisfied. Ahead of the upcoming event, the CEO of The Walt Disney Company, Bob Chapek, announced that the event will hit off with a bang!
“For nearly a century, Disney has been entertaining and inspiring people around the world,” said Bob Chapek, The Walt Disney Company. “I can’t wait to give fans a first look at what we have in store for our hundredth anniversary and how we’re using this occasion to celebrate all the fans and families who have welcomed Disney into their lives.”
The opening event will feature the traveling productions of Aladdin, The Lion King, and Frozen and the induction of the 2022 recipients for the “Disney Legends Awards,” which honor those who have contributed to the Disney legacy, including the cast of Disney’s Frozen and the leads of Blackish Anthony Anderson and Tracee Ellis Ross. But one of the best names and most deserving on the list includes Chadwick Boseman, Black Panther posthumously!
Stay tuned to Culture Slate during the entirety of D23 as it kicks off on September 9 in Anaheim, California.
