Could 'Spider-Man 3' Possibly Connect To The Inhumans, X-Men, And Fantastic Four?

Marvel fans around the world are excited and hyped by new images from Spider-Man 3 that revealed Tom Holland and Zendaya together on set. As we know, Spider-Man 3 is also set around holiday season, based on the new images. However, that was not the only thing revealed; the one that grabbed our attention is the image that showed newsstand board filled with flyers and posters.

In one of these images, we can see flyers about missing a person, with the headline “Missing!!” on top and “We miss our babies!!” on the bottom of that flyer. We can also actually see two names: Brian and Maddie FLYNN. It seems like a brother and a sister are missing. What is interesting is that, on this poster, they capitalized the name Flynn. Could it be addressing a specific person? Well, this is just our speculation.

First, we do not have anyone name Brian and Maddie Flynn in the Marvel Comics. This could be very similar to the case of Agent Phil Coulson (played by Clark Gregg) in that he was created specifically for the MCU that debuted in 2008’s Iron Man. His popularity led to his regular comic book appearances. In this case, Marvel could be creating new characters. Funny thing is the MCU already had a character name Flynn with full name is John Flynn (played by Bradley Whitford), who appeared in Marvel One-Shot “Agent Carter,” where he was the commanding officer of the Strategic Scientific Reserve. Marvel One-Shot “Agent Carter” was debuted as a short film featured on the Iron Man 3 Blu-ray and DVD. Since the short is set in the 1940’s, this Brian and Maddie Flynn pair could be the descendant of John Flynn. The Marvel One-Shot is actually connected to the actual MCU. In another Marvel One-Shot, “Hail to the King,” it was explained that the real Mandarin exists after Trevor the Mandarin imitator (played by Ben Kingley, who reprised his character from Iron Man 3) was thrown in prison. As we know, we are getting the real Mandarin in the upcoming film Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings.

Another possibility is that Marvel could be hinting at the coming appearances of the Fantastic Four. Flynn, whose surname is unknown, is a human with Inhuman lineage that debuted in Inhumanity: The Awakening #1, December 2013. Marvel is rumored to be rebooting the Inhumans since the show was not something Marvel Studios or Marvel TV were proud of. Flynn is also a student from Latveria. Latveria is the country where Doctor Doom rules. As Marvel fans know, Doctor Doom is the arch-enemy of the Fantastic Four.

Another theory that actually has a direct connection to Doctor Doom is that this could be a reference to Alexander Flynn, the son of Doctor Doom himself. Alexander Flynn was disowned and exiled from Latveria by his own father. An adult, Flynn moved to Los Angeles to start new life. In the MCU, this Flynn could be Alexander Flynn with the same background and could also have children by the names of Brian and Maddie that are missing. Another interesting bit about the history of Alexander Flynn is that he is actually a mutant. This could also be directed to the X-Men. Since as we have been hearing that Spider-Man 3 is going to be about multiverse, this could also be opening the door for the X-Men to enter the MCU, or at the very least the discovery of the mutants.

Again, these are just interesting speculations. If one of these guesses is right, it is going to be an interesting outcome since Spider-Man 3 has already tons of other Marvel characters that appear to be reprising their roles to be featured in the film such as Doctor Strange, Charlie Cox (as we do not know if he is going to play both Daredevil and Matt Murdock or just Matt Murdock as Peter’s lawyer), Alfred Molina as Doctor Octopus, Jamie Foxx as Electro, Tobey Maguire, Andrew Garfield, and many more, if reports are to be believed. Adding a new character such as Flynn or Alexander Flynn will be interesting considering that we have many recurring characters. Whatever the outcome is, we are excited for Spider-Man 3 to come out. Marvel will not disappoint us.
