Chris Pratt And Chris Hemsworth Will Be On Set Together Next Week For ‘Thor: Love and Thunder’
As we know, the ending of Avengers: Endgame set up the next adventure between Star-Lord and Thor. Marvel fans are expecting at least some of the members from the Guardians of the Galaxy to be included in the next highly anticipated Thor film of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Thor: Love and Thunder. Some have speculated that this could either be a full blown team-up film between Thor and Star-Lord, or this could be just a cameo role for Star-Lord. But knowing Marvel, they will have a big crossover between the two franchises, perhaps something like Captain America: Civil War, which Anthony Mackie said has the feel of an Avengers 2.5. Some of us are hoping that Thor: Love and Thunder will feel like an Avengers 4.5.
It is likely that Chris Pratt will have a substantial supporting role in Thor: Love and Thunder, and more likely that the rivalry between Star-Lord and Thor will continue one way or another. According to Chris Hemsworth, Thor: Love and Thunder will be filming in January 2021 in Australia. In a recent Instagram post from Chris Pratt himself, he says that he will be flying to Australia to shoot Thor: Love and Thunder soon.
In the self-hosted Instagram telethon, Chris Pratt spoke to Spider-Man star Tom Holland about what they have in their sleeves for the future, as well as how their year went by. Tom Holland asked, “What’ve you got coming up?” Chris Pratt responded with, “Got Guardians coming up next year” and that he will be “traveling to Australia in about a week” to start filming Thor: Love and Thunder. Tom Holland appeared to be unaware about Chris Pratt shooting Thor: Love and Thunder, despite an earlier report that Chris Pratt would be reprising his Star-Lord role in that film with Taika Waititi back to direct the sequel.
We also have another bit of news: Vin Diesel (who had plays Groot) and Pom Klementieff (who plays Mantis) have arrived in Australia, with Chris Pratt set to be joining them next week. The interesting thing is that we know that Groot is fully CGI, with motion capture done by different actors while the voice is provided by Vin Diesel, thus not necessarily requiring him to be on set. Perhaps to have him on set is much better and easier for the actor to see Groot live and knowing how to react to certain behaviors for sake of his voice acting whenever they record his voice over work. Or he could simply be providing the motion capture for Groot. Or maybe another role? After all, the actor never had a full appearance in the film other than doing the voice of Groot.
The other primary Guardians members are Drax and Rocket Raccoon. The latter is fully CGI. However, the motion capture for Rocket Raccoon is done by Sean Gunn, brother of James Gunn. There is no word on whether or not he is going to be in Australia. We also have not heard anything about Dave Bautista, who plays Drax. However, Bautista could arrive later or that his role perhaps is not as large as like the other Guardians. Even Karen Gillan’s Nebula was not mentioned either. Either Dave Bautista and Karen Gillan are out or, as it was hinted, Star-Lord is looking for the time-displaced Gamora from Avengers: Endgame. This could mean that Nebula and Drax are looking for Gamora while the rest of the Guardians are helping Thor to fight Christian Bale’s Gorr the God Butcher.
Thor: Love and Thunder stars Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman, Tessa Thompson, Christian Bale, Chris Pratt, Jaimie Alexander, Vin Diesel, and Pom Klementieff, and will begin filming in Australia in January 2021 for February 11th, 2022 release.
