Chris Evans Rumored To Return To MCU As Captain America
Marvel fans all around the world should be excited, as this news will rock the Marvel Cinematic Universe: Chris Evans is expected to return to his role as Captain America! We are not sure if the deal is in early talks or has been completely finished, but insiders say that it is headed to that direction, which could lead to more Steve Rogers in the MCU.
As we all know, Chris Evans had been very public after Avengers: Endgame that he would be hanging up his shield for good and passing the torch to Sam Wilson aka Falcon, played by Anthony Mackie, as we have seen in the end of Avengers: Endgame. But the past few months, the idea was floating around for Evans to return to future MCU. Now, it seems that Evans is more game and that he and Marvel may have come to an agreement.
Chris Evans had been playing Steve Rogers AKA Captain America since 2011 in Captain America: First Avenger. At the time, he signed a six-picture deal, and he was hesitant to commit to that many pictures until Robert Downey Jr. came in to convince him to do the role. After that, he went to star in more than six pictures, including the three Captain America solo films, the four Avengers installments, and cameos in Spider-Man: Homecoming and Thor: The Dark World. But now, it seems like Captain America is ready to return to MCU. His return as Captain America is still unclear as far as which film or TV series it might be, as Marvel Studios is branching out to TV shows that connect to the film through Disney+, starting with WandaVision, which premieres on January 15th.
It would make sense for Captain America to return in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier in some capacity as a guest star in one or more episodes since Bucky Barnes (Winter Soldier) is his childhood friend and he has passed the torch to Sam Wilson (Falcon). So, guest starring in this series is likely possible. Another speculation: Captain America could be making an appearance through film ala Robert Downey Jr. in Captain America: Civil War and Spider-Man: Homecoming as a supporting role. He could make an appearance in Spider-Man 3 and/or Doctor Strange in Multiverse of Madness as he comes from another universe. Or maybe the younger inexperienced Captain America could show up, as we all saw time travel in Avengers: Endgame, where we saw two Captain Americas. More speculation: Marvel could be doing another Captain America solo feature by putting the timeline sometime between Captain America: Civil War and Avengers: Infinity War, similar to Scarlet Johannson in Black Widow, where the timeframe takes place between Captain America: Civil War and Avengers: Infinity War. Or perhaps Captain America will appear in flashback scenes in the future MCU films or the TV series.
As of right now, it is very unclear where and how Captain America will return to the MCU or TV series. As always, Marvel has no word and is keeping everything under wraps. We all just have to wait and see. This is such an exciting bit of news for all Marvel fans across the world, including myself.
