Check Out The New Clip From ‘Doctor Strange In The Multiverse of Madness’

Doctor Strange

As we await the release of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness with bated breath, Marvel has posted an exclusive clip to fuel the enthusiasm of eager fans. We now have the first clip from the movie that gives a one-minute-long sneak peek of Dr. Strange coming to the rescue of America Chavez.

The clip, titled Dr. Strange vs. Gargantos, shows America Chavez (played by Xochitl Gomez) being chased by an invisible threat on the streets of New York, close to home to the Sanctum Sanctorum. Dr. Strange (played by Benedict Cumberbatch), seemingly perplexed by the chaos, uses his magic to reveal that the menace is the giant tentacled single-eyed monster, Gargantos. With the help of his trusty cloak of levitation, he saves America Chavez, at least for now. In the more recent trailer of the movie, the present sorcerer supreme, Wong (played by Benedict Wong), can also be seen fighting Gargantos while trying to save America Chavez and New York City.

Gargantos, the sea monster, is a character from Sub-Mariner and has little to do with Dr. Strange, which has led fans to believe that Marvel is using its name for Shuma-Gorath, a powerful adversary of Dr. Strange in the comics, due to rights issues. We also possibly see the appearance of Shuma-Gorath in the fourth episode of What If…? (What If... Doctor Strange Lost His Heart And Not His Hands). However, it remains to be seen why the omnipotent ruler of hundreds of dimensions, Shuma-Gorath (Gargantos), goes after America Chavez. From the trailers, it looks pretty likely that America Chavez will accompany Dr. Strange further in his journey through the multiverse.

Will Gargantos survive the battle, or will it be diced into a million pieces? Is their appearance in this universe a direct result of the events of Spider-Man: No Way Home, or did they get here owing to the multiverse traversing abilities of America Chavez? The clip seems to give a glimpse of the beginning of what looks like a very thrilling ride, and we can't wait to have all our questions answered!
