Casting The X-Men For The MCU
With the arrival of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness arriving next month and seemingly promising a return of Patrick Stewart's Charles Xavier, we are taking a look at the children of the atom, the X-Men!
However, it is rumored it might be a fleeting visit from the Fox Studio's interpretation of the X-Men, and Kevin Feige and the team might be gearing up to introduce a new version of Marvel's Merry Mutants. With that in mind, we are looking at potential actors and actresses who could take on these roles. However, the X-Men are a team going for over 50 years with hundreds of different members. So we are picking 8 team members as there are just so many Mutants to choose from!

Joel Edgerton - Wolverine
The most famous mutant of them all, James "Logan" Howlett, was previously portrayed by Hugh Jackman in a role that has gone down in comic book movie history as one of the best. So it will be a challenging task for whoever takes on the role next. However, looking at one of Jackman's fellow Aussie actors, we think we have someone up for the challenge. Edgerton has the steely gaze and intimidation that fans love about Wolverine, and in films such as It Comes at Night and The Gift, we have seen his more ferocious and menacing side. However, he has played a softer, more world-weary family man, showing his range. A truly gifted actor who would bring new dimensions to Wolverine.
Chris Pine - Cyclops
The usually stoic and straight-laced team leader of the X-Men, Scott Summers, has usually mixed fair in both the films and comics even though he is one of the most integral characters. The Fox X-Men films may have had some outstanding films and performances from actors like Jackman and Stewart. However, Cyclops was always seen as a minor side character in the films, and James Marsden didn't get the chance to shine as the character. Enter Mr. Chris Pine. A charismatic leading man with plenty of charm, Pine could bring something different to Scott Summers. In his role as Captain James T. Kirk in the new Star Trek films, Pine is no stranger to being the leader of a team, and Cyclops has always been the more sensible, level-headed member, but Pine could also bring a vulnerability and tragedy to the story of Scott Summers as he did in the first modern Star Trek.
Emma Stone - Jean Grey
One of the most celebrated and beloved sagas of the X-Men has been the rise and fall and rise again of Jean Grey. Jean Grey has been the focal point of some of the biggest stories in the X-Men universe, so you need someone capable of holding their own. Stone easily fits in as the psychic and has proved this in her roles in The Favorite and La La Land. She can easily flip between a wide range of emotions. The characters in the X-Men are often tragic figures, and Stone is a very talented actress who could bring a feeling of the weight of the world to the big screen.
Stephen Graham - Beast
My Stars and Garters, it's the lovable Hank McCoy next. The blue genius is a mutant with a heart of gold but, like others on the list, has a certain tragic nature due to how people often react to his blue exterior. Again, we need an actor who can portray a quiet storm, an actor who has a gentle side but can erupt into beastly fury at a moment's notice. Graham has been a fantastic screen presence since he burst onto the scene. This is England showed his ferocity and stillness and calmness for which McCoy is known.
Nathalie Emmanuel - Storm
The goddess of the weather, Storm, has been a popular mainstay of the X-Men since her introduction in Giant-Size X-Men #1. Storm has been through a lot since her debut. She has married and divorced a Wakandan king, led the X-Men numerous times, and is now part of a specialist team on Mars in the comics. So you need someone who is strong-willed and can give justice to an enduring character which is where Emmanuel steps in. No stranger to big franchises after Game of Thrones, Emmanuel has proved she can play a steadfast leader and offers sage advice to whoever needs it.
Mary Mouser - Kitty Pryde
"Shadowcat," or Kitty Pryde, is always the beating heart of any X team she is part of. Innocent and joyous but highly intelligent, Pryde will always lend a helping hand and strive to do the right thing. Mouser has shown those exact qualities in her role in Cobra Kai. A relative newcomer who gives the right level of experience to the role of Kitty Pryde.
John Boyega - Iceman
The other beating heart of the team is, of course, Bobby Drake, Iceman. Introduced in the first X-Men, Drake has always been a consistent stalwart of the group. Righteous and with a good sense of humor, Drake has always provided the team with jokes and warmth, which is ironic. So who better to bring Drake to screen than John Boyega. Boyega has charisma oozing out of his pores and is a brilliant talent, and it would be great to see him get a chance to shine in another ensemble cast.
Patrick Stewart - Charles Xavier
I mean, there is simply no one better. If it ain't broke, don't fix it, right?
