Cary Elwes Discusses His Role And More On Upcoming 'Knuckles' Spinoff
Last month, it was revealed that Cary Elwes of The Princess Bride fame would be joining the cast of the upcoming Parmount+ Sonic the Hedgehog movie spin-off, Knuckles. Now, in a recent interview for the latest Mission Impossible film, Elwes has revealed some interesting information regarding the show and his role in it. Elwes revealed that he would be playing Pistol Pete Whipple, a relative of Green Hills Police Department Sheriff’s Deputy Wade Whipple.
Elwes describes the character and his time on the show in this quote from the interview:
"Well, that's a spinoff of Sonic the Hedgehog, as you know, Knuckles, the voice of which is Mr. Idris Elba, the great Idris Elba. I play Pistol Pete Whipple [in live action]. He's a 27-time championship bowler, and yeah, it was a lot of fun, a lot of fun."
This definitely gives at least some insight into the overall tone of the series as being perhaps a bit more comedic than initially thought. What was also revealed was that the series uses a mix of animatronics, puppets, and CGI.
Though it is unclear to what extent practical effects will be used, some have speculated that it may be for the vehicles and the robots in addition to stand-ins for the CGI Knuckles the Echidna (voiced by Idris Elba). Whatever the case may be, it was clear that Elwes had quite a fun time on the set of Knuckles, which is set to premiere on Parmount+ in the fall of this year.
