Bryce Dallas Howard Claims She Earned Significantly Less Making 'Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom' Than Co-Star Chris Pratt
In 2018, it was reported that Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom star Bryce Dallas Howard was being paid $8 million compared to her co-star Chris Pratt’s $10 million payday from the film. However, in a recent interview with Insider, Howard clarified she was paid “so much less” for her work on the sequels to Jurassic World than her male co-star. A dollar amount was not revealed, but Howard explained that times were different when she first negotiated her contract with the studio in 2014. She found herself at a disadvantage. “The reports were so interesting because I was paid so much less than the reports even said, so much less,” Howard said.
She did applaud her co-star Chris Pratt for stepping up in negotiations concerning games or theme park rides after learning of the pay gap. Howard said “...he literally told me, ‘You guys don’t even have to do anything. I’m gonna do all the negotiating. We’re gonna be paid the same and you don’t have to think about this, Bryce.”
Pratt and Howard were first paired in 2015’s Jurassic World which lead to their work in the sequels, Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom and Jurassic World: Dominion. Howard stars as Claire Dearing, the operations manager at the new park, and Pratt plays Owen Grady, an expert in velociraptors. The most recent installment opened in June of 2022 grossing $373 million in the United States and $974 million worldwide.
Jurassic World: Dominion is available for rent or purchase digitally, on Blu-ray or DVD now.
