Box Office For 'Deadpool & Wolverine' Continues To Grow
After a strong opening day, Deadpool & Wolverine continues to perform above expectations. At the domestic box office for its opening weekend, Deadpool & Wolverine made $211 million, ranking it sixth for all-time opening weekend debuts. That number also puts it as the largest opening ever for an R-rated film.
It should be no surprise which films rank above Deadpool & Wolverine when it comes to opening weekend debuts. Two of those are the major events from the third phase of the Marvel Cinematic Universe that are Avengers: Infinity War ($257 million) and Avengers: Endgame ($357 million). The other MCU film on the list comes from the fourth phase, being Spider-Man: No Way Home ($260 million). The other two of that list are two-thirds of the Star Wars sequel trilogy, with The Force Awakens ($247 million) and The Last Jedi ($220 million).

All five of those films would go on to cross the $1 billion mark with ease, which Deadpool & Wolverine also seems likely to do with these expectation-surpassing numbers. And should it make over $1 billion globally at the box office, Deadpool & Wolverine will be the second R-rated film in history to do so. Surpassing 2019’s Joker, which raked in $1.07 billion at the global box office, seems likely. The global box office weekend total for Deadpool & Wolverine is $444.3 million, making it likely that the record will be beaten after four weeks.
