Boba Fett Spin-Off Could Possibly Feature Some Of Our Favorite Bounty Hunters

When Disney announced they’d be releasing a Star Wars show on Disney+ called The Mandalorian, for many it was not a question of if, but when Boba Fett would somehow get involved. The show certainly did not disappoint, with Temuera Morrison returning to play the armored bounty hunter. He made quite the impression right off the bat, showing the audience exactly why he had such a fearsome reputation in the original trilogy. Without his armor, he was still able to brutally take out several stormtroopers armed only with a gaffi stick, the traditional melee weapon of the Tusken Raiders. Once he gets back in his father’s armor, he truly shows that he’s a living weapon, making short work of the rest of the stormtroopers and shooting down a transport with the rocket in his jetpack.

In a season finale filled with multiple surprises, one of the best ones was the post-credit scene showing that even though Fett and Mando had parted ways, Disney was far from through with Fett. He and his partner, Fennec Shand, enter what was once Jabba the Hutt’s palace. It’s under new management: Jabba’s former advisor, Bib Fortuna (who has clearly enjoyed his new life of luxury if his immense weight gain is anything to go by). Immediately, we can see that it’s a shell of what it once was; where Jabba’s court was full of sinister, chuckling henchmen and associates, Fortuna only has a small retinue. Fett and Shand quickly kill all of them, and Fett yanks Fortuna’s corpse off his throne and sits down in his place. Flash to the title: The Book of Boba Fett

Disney later confirmed that The Book of Boba Fett would be a spin-off show starring Fett, adding to the growing list of Star Wars shows coming to Disney+.

Would Fett be taking over the Tatooine criminal empire? Who else could we see in The Book of Boba Fett?

LRM Online has shared that a source familiar with the show’s production revealed that “there will be some fan-favorite Bounty Hunters appearing in The Book of Boba Fett.” No other details were shared, but let’s break down the possibilities.

We can immediately rule out Fett’s former mentor in The Clone Wars, Aurra Sing, as it was revealed in Solo: A Star Wars Story that Sing was killed by Tobias Beckett, or more specifically, “I pushed, the fall did the rest.”

Cad Bane (2).jpg

Cad Bane, a fan-favorite bounty hunter from The Clone Wars, is currently at large in the Star Wars universe. The last canonical update on Bane was when it was revealed he supplied the plans to bomb the Jedi Temple in the Kanan comic series. There was originally going to be an episode of The Clone Wars where Bane and Fett had a shootout, resulting in Bane’s death and the famous dent in Fett’s helmet, but the episode was never released. Could The Book of Boba Fett see this happen in a flashback, or have a scene inspired by it in the current timeline?

In the old Legends material, after Fett escaped the Great Pit of Carkoon, he was nursed back to health by Dengar, another bounty hunter first seen in The Empire Strikes Back as one of the bounty hunters hired to track the Millennium Falcon. They even worked together for a time. It could be interesting to see a remixed version of this partnership.

We could of course see some of the other bounty hunters from The Empire Strikes Back in cameo roles, but there’s one character from Marvel’s Star Wars comics that could make the jump to live-action that would actually open up quite a few possibilities. His name is Black Krrsantan, a black-furred Wookiee bounty hunter. He would be the first Wookiee in the Disney+ shows (and Star Wars can always use more Wookiees). Black Krrsantan was trained to be a gladiator and then worked for Jabba the Hutt. Interestingly enough, his earliest appearance in the timeline is in Star Wars #15, where he is hired by Jabba to track down the man who shut down his water tax on local farmers. That man turns out to be none other than Obi-Wan Kenobi. Obi-Wan is getting his own Disney+ series, set around the time period that this issue takes place, so this could even be a crossover opportunity. Black Krrsantan ends up working for another fan favorite character, Doctor Aphra, who could even make a live-action appearance in this case.

What bounty hunters would you like to see make appearances in The Book of Boba Fett? Leave a comment with your theory.
