Bo-Katan Thought The Luke Skywalker Cameo Was Really This Character
Season 2 of Disney+’s The Mandalorian gave us so many amazing surprises and epic cameos that changed the future of Star Wars for the better. Although seeing Ahsoka in live-action shocked fans to the next level, the one cameo that brought fans to their knees was that of Jedi Master Luke Skywalker in the season finale.
Although everyone knew automatically that it was Luke when they saw the X-Wing fly by, Bo-Katan actress Katee Sackhoff believed it to be different Jedi at first. Sackhoff beloved that the one who came to Grogu’s rescue was Jedi Master Plo Koon. Master Plo had become a fan favorite thanks to The Clone Wars, and Sackhoff had been told that it was Master Plo who would be appearing in the season finale.
“Do you know that that’s who we thought that it was at the end [of Season 2]? … That’s who we thought it was, was Plo Koon. That’s who we [were] told it was and I’m a very gullible person. When somebody important tells me something, I say ‘okay.'”
We all know that Master Plo was killed on Cato Neimoidia during Order 66. The TV series showed us that Master Plo was wise and a great friend of Padawan Ahsoka Tano during the Clone Wars era. Although the idea of Plo Koon still being alive turned out to be false, it could have been potentially interesting to explore the possibility of Master Plo surviving Order 66, and coming to Grogu’s aid in the season finale. One of the best things about Master Plo is his attitude, his hopefulness, and his unending energy. Plo Koon is a powerful Jedi, and an extremely talented duelist. These are all reasons why all those Dark Troopers would have been in danger if Plo Koon had made an appearance in The Mandalorian.
Master Plo earned the love of Star Wars fans by being an extremely hopeful character when situations told others different. He also always helped Ahsoka and taught her many lessons that made Ahsoka who she is now. One of the cutest moments with Ahsoka and Master Plo during the Clone Wars is when Plo shields her from lying to the Council about her involvement with the citadel mission. Plo Koon always has respect from Ahsoka, and even Obi-Wan himself.
One can only imagine Sackhoff’s face when she saw Master Skywalker removing his hood in the finale. Watching Luke turn Dark Troopers into butter is one of the most amazing and epic moments in Star Wars history. Although this wasn’t Master Plo Koon or Ahsoka Tano, it was definitely a moment that will never be forgotten by the many Star Wars fans who will watch that scene over and over.
One of the most amazing things of the season finale is not only watching Grogu saying bye to Din, but also seeing Luke take Grogu to what could be the beginning of his new Jedi Temple, as he tries to restore the Jedi Order from the ashes of Order 66.
Even though we didn’t see Master Plo Koon in The Mandalorian, it would be amazing to see the character retuning in live-action, interacting with live-action Ahsoka. This could be a possibility in the new Ahsoka series, as Master Plo could appear as a Force ghost to an older and wiser Ahsoka Tano, or in a flashback. Although Katee Sackhoff and us fans were did not get a Plo Koon cameo, it does not take away the fact that he is one of the most beloved minor characters in all of Star Wars.
