'Blood And Honey' Theatrical Release Extended

One of the most anticipated movies of next month, at least for people who like cheap, silly slashers, is the re-imagining of everybody’s favorite honey-loving bear, Winnie-the-Pooh as a deranged killer. Since the copyright of A.A. Milne’s flagship character expired in January 2022, people can do whatever they want with the character (as long as it doesn’t look like Disney’s still copyrighted version) and director Rhys Frake-Waterfield decided to make a slasher film where Pooh and Piglet become feral from hunger and go on a violent rampage against Christopher Robin, his fiancee, and a group of girls who just happen to be renting a cabin nearby.
Charming.
The initial trailer for the film took the internet by storm, amassing 6.5 million views, and the buzz generated by this bizarre and controversial film caused the filmmakers to not simply release it on streaming services, but give it a one-day to cash in on the notoriety. However, the buzz has not increased to the point where the theatrical run will be longer than initially expected.

Instead of just one night, ticketing website Fathom Events has revealed that the film will not get a week-long release, from February 15th to February 23rd in 1500 theaters nationwide. This doesn’t count for the planned releases in other countries, such as the U.K., Canada and Mexico. Who knows? If it crushes it at the box office in those countries, maybe it’ll spill into more. With a sequel being announced, it’s almost guaranteed at this point that it will see theater time as well.
