There was a lot of speculation as to whether or not Superman & Lois would be getting a fourth season. Luckily for fans, the series will return for a fourth season but with some changes. While the series may be coming back, many of its regulars will not.

Part of the agreement for a fourth season included a budget cut, resulting in a ten-episode run as opposed to season 3’s thirteen-episode run. This also means that the cast would have to slim down, leading to the semi-removal of Dylan Walsh, Emmanuelle Chriqui, Erik Valdez, Inde Navarette, Wole Parks, Tayler Buck, and Sofia Hasmik. These actors will no longer act as series regulars but may return in cameos and guest star positions. As these actors all but depart, Michael Cudlitz, who plays Lex Luthor in the show, is set to be promoted to a series regular.

As numerous series in television have seen a slash in the budget, it isn’t surprising that this show would get one too. Superman & Lois cost about $5 million an episode. As standard television becomes less and less profitable, time will only tell how long the series can survive if it doesn’t jump to streaming.
